Chillin' in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King's Army

Mar 28, 2023

So this anime is not the best of this season, however it is still good. The animation itself is alright and the sound is good.  The storyline is pretty decent and the characters likeable.  Nothing here is remarkable.  But if you just want something fun to watch in your spare time you could do much worse.

Farming Life in Another World

Mar 25, 2023

I would say that this now ranks among my favorite anime.  The whole thing is very laid-back and enjoyable.  Just a small amount of action, some laughs, and a whole lot of good feelings are what this show delivers, and does it well.  Its not your normal isekai, its a farming show, which sounds boring, but it works. If you want a big complex storyline and tons of character development, this may not be your show.  I like all that, and found i really didn't care that all of that was missing from this one.  The story is super simple. I mean it really couldn't be simpler.  And... See full review

The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Mar 17, 2023

So let's break down Misfit here.  The storyline here started out a bit simplistic at the beginning, however it grew into a decent series of plot twists that ended up making it quite interesting.  This is one of the few times I am reading the novel after seeing the anime, so I have no clue if it follows, but I don't really care, as I have stated in the past, I view anime and Manga as separate entities.  Once you hit the end, so see that the clues were there, which made the story pretty straight forward,  but still quite entertaining. The MC is OP, but then so are some of the foes. ... See full review

Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy

Mar 16, 2023

So here we go with another anime in the isekai genre.  We got an OP MC and a duo of girls instead of a harem, and it was all done pretty well.  Nuts and bolts wise the animation was good, the music was nice, and the volume levels were steady 95% of the time. The storyline was a little different than most in this genre.  The MC was transported to a different world as a human, not a monster like some on here claim (not sure they actually watched the show before taking to their whining).  The goddess of the world is basically an ass, and because the MC is not a hunk she denies him the... Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?

Mar 13, 2023

Alright, normally I like anime in this genre.  I thought it was a cool twist that the MC wasn't the OP one, and that it frustrated him so that his mom was.  However, the general story wasn't all that great.  The characters were not very deep, and I really didn't like any besides the mom.  And the fact that the harem aspect, and pretty much the whole show pushed his mother as harem member #1 was a bit too much, even if the MC didn't want it that way.  I also found certain episodes so boring that i kept falling asleep, which is not normal at all. Nuts and bolts was the animation was... See full review

Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life!

Mar 12, 2023

Let me start by saying this may be some of the best character development for an MC i have seen in a while.  But that is where my praise stops.  The story was only ok, and was pretty twisted, with way too much potty humor, which I felt detracted from what seemed like a good idea decent idea.  The show started pretty slow, and though the action picked up, the theme never really got much better. Animation wise it was done well.  The music was a tad annoying, and the audio volume levels fluctuated a bit too much for my liking. It not the worst thing I have seen, but is definitely not at... The Executioner and Her Way of Life

Mar 8, 2023

I am going to start by saying this particular anime is not my cup of tea.  I liked the idea of anti-isekai kind of thing, but then the show spun more towards a horror like show which I dont enjoy, as the story is a bit too psychotic for me.  I did like the characters more or less.  But despite my dislike of the show, I can still say it was skillfully done.  Nuts and bolts wise, the animation, music, and audio levels are good.  So if you like sadistic storylines, with lots of evil twists, then you might like it far more than I did.

She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man

Mar 2, 2023

Alright, first things first, I read the Manga and loved it.  This is not the Manga.  I watched the show and greatly enjoyed it too, because I always treat Manga and anime as separate entities, and so often one doesn't follow the other. I am hitting my nuts and bolts portion first because this is where my complaints arise.  The music fits the show.  The audio is pretty steady most of the time except when they have dialog during the battle scenes.  The speaking is low and the battle volume is high.  My biggest issue is the animation.  Not top tier animation by far. ... The Genius Prince's Guide To Raising a Nation Out of Debt

Feb 27, 2023

As kingdom building shows go, this has to be the most comical i have found yet.  Its pretty funny all the way through.  The title is a bit misleading.  Yes I would call the MC a schemer more so than a genius, but most of what he accomplishes is due to dumb luck. Character wise I think they did a good job.  The MC walks that line between lazy do-nothing and serious quite well.  You can also see his genuine care for those he holds dear.  His attendant is on the colder side, which makes sense since she of a race of people traditionally treated worse than trash.  But you can... The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody

Feb 26, 2023

Now while this may not have been the best show, it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets in the reviews.  The story was not the greatest and the conclusion is only so-so, but it did have its merit. The mc was not the best, but he showed intelligence, and true caring for his friends.  And I don't know where these people got the idea there was "over the top fanservice".  It was actually quite tame compared to some of the shows in this release period.  Plus his two lady friends were pretty good characters in their own right. Side note, the animation itself, the music, and the... See full review

The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

Feb 22, 2023

So I read a bunch of the reviews prior to watching.  Folks keep comparing it to Healer, and no its not really the same.  I also find that most of the negative reviews are from people who seem like they don't like isekai or harem shows, and since that is what this is advertised as, i cannot understand why they would watch unless it was so they could trash it and have something to complain about.  Dont like this style show, then why did you bother to watch it?  I dont care much for the horror genre, so I dont watch it.  I dont feel a need to watch, then trash talk, because I knew I... The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest

Feb 16, 2023

Ok, I am writing this review from the point of view of the intended audience, kids 7 to 12 or so.  I will give my personal review at the end.  Its pretty obvious from the over-narration, more simplistic anime, easy storyline of "humans good... demons bad" shows you that its a kids anime, so I let my younger niece and nephew watch it, then gaged this review from them. They actually enjoyed the show quite a bit, and had no problem following along, due the simplication provided and the constant narration.  They thought the characters were cute and fun.  But even they would say... Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV

Feb 13, 2023

I really enjoy this series, its ovas, movies, and even Sword Orratorio.  I was excited to see where the 4th season went.  And I am aware they split this season into 2 parts.   However the story telling in part 1 is pretty sparse.  Aside from our hero meeting a new monster girl and a glimpse into the past if the blonde elf, this whole part of the season is just fight, fight, fight... and pretty much nothing else.  Not that it is bad to have all the action, as it gives some secondary characters a chance to shine some, but still.  And leaves you hanging... big time.  I... By the Grace of the Gods

Feb 9, 2023

This series is a primary example of why I try to judge the anime and their related Manga separately.  Having read the Manga I understand why fans of it might be disappointed with portions of the show and how rushed certain parts were.  However, if you ignore the Manga and treat this as a separate entity, it is a perfectly good show.  But if you can't separate the two, then this might not be you cup of tea if you loved the Manga. That said, the story here is a pretty simple isekai, that has some action, but leans more towards a slice of life series.  The animation is good as is the... See full review

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War

Feb 7, 2023

I love Bleach.  It has always been that show that gets your blood pumping.  From the action to the music, it is all designed to excite.  The story isn't always the best at times, and sometimes it is, and truthfully we can say that for all series that run as long as Bleach has.  (Yes I am even talking about DragonBall, One Piece, Naruto, etc)  But Bleach, like those, is still a great show. I was so looking forward to this, and was not disappointed.  This stretch with the Blood War is no different.  Same great show.  Glad we finally get some info into his mother with... See full review

Feb 3, 2023

This was a good, additional story for the Goblin Slayer series.  Only drawback of this is that the first 25 minutes or so are just a recap of the 1st season of the series.  This one part anime is a fine continuation to the series, and is a great way to remind everyone of the show prior to the new 2nd season.

Goblin Slayer

Feb 3, 2023

This is a great show with lots of action, a good consistent storyline, and good characters.  There is a good bit more gore than most series of this type, but thats not horrible. I generally enjoy fantasy/adventure shows, and this one is no exception.  It is a bit on the darker side than most, which should be expected with this level or gore.  The MC is strong but is not OP, and is basically the same level as most of the decent adventurers in town.  His main ally is a beginner, and his other teammates are good fighters but no superstars either.  But they all work well... BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.

Jan 27, 2023

This series has just joined the ranks of my favorite anime.   So the series is based around a girl playing a VR world game, similar to SAO, except they are not trapped and there is no bearing on the real world.  The MC is a Maple who seems to be a loving and simple girl whose odd way of playing and thinking have turned her into a beast in the game world almost overnight.  The story is nice though not super involved follows her, her real friend Sally, and new game friends through various adventures. Lots of action, lots of comedy, and plenty of heart warming moments make this one... See full review

I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level

Jan 24, 2023

Ok, where should I start this review.  I guess I will start with the overall storyline... well... I would... if it had one.  This was the only reason my over all rating was a 7.  It could have easily been and 8 or 9 if there were at least some kind of overall storyline to it to tie the episodes together better.  Its more like an animated sitcom, and there is nothing wrong with that.  The whole series is about a girl who died, got reincarnated as an immortal, got way OP by accident, while living all alone for the 1st 300 years of her new life.  Then she starts to meet all... Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside

Jan 18, 2023

I enjoyed this show.  This show has its good and bad points.  I will start with the good as they outweigh the bad. The overall story is pretty good.  Guy leaves the hero's party, and wishes to settle down in a nowhere town and he stays true to his goal.  There is a nice little romance in there.  It is as laid back as promised, and there is just enough action and intrigue to keep it interesting.  And the 2 primary characters Red/Gideon and Rit are well developed and interesting. The downsides... most of the hero's party enters the show at various points, and the is absolutely... See full review

Beast Tamer

Jan 16, 2023

There are plenty of anime out there that I really like... but this one I love.  There seems to be lots of comments for it being generic... but so what?  Very little out there is unique.  For being a generic show, it was done very well.  Yep, the guy has built himself a harem, but he definitely is not some perv like lots of shows run with (and even the perv thing isn't always bad either).  There is a decent amount of action.  The characters are quite likable, and are not over the top.  Its very heartwarming, and I cannot wait for another season.

Just your basic recap.  1st episode covers season 1, narrated by Lutz.  2nd episode covers season 2. Narrated by Gil.  Each just quickly recaps their respective season, and is not really a requirement to watch.  If its been a while since you have seen the 1st two seasons, then maybe you would want to watch this to catch back up, but otherwise its unneeded.

Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 2

Jan 9, 2023

While the 1st season was a bit more heartwarming, this season we get to see Myne abused a bit because of the class system in this shows society.  Overall its not as good as the 1st season for that exact reason.  She actually uses her ideas to improve more lives, and I will stop with that as dont want to drop any spoilers.  However, towards the end of the season it picks up a bit as we get some action.   This season we drift away from the isekai a bit more toward normal fantasy.  And I know a lot of people are complaing about the slice of life aspect of the show, but hate to... Ascendance of a Bookworm

Jan 7, 2023

This is not your average isekai.  Yes it is a death/rebirth thing, but unlike most isekai, it not a big action show or a massive nation building thing.  The main character is not overpowered, but do have the knowledge of her past life to give her something to work with.  The story is a well written, heartwarming tale with just enough threat of heartache to keep it interesting.  It is definitely one of those shows you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.  I know I am a bit late to the party as season 3 has already been released, but that just makes it easier for me cause I... The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent

Jan 3, 2023

While I did find the show entertaining, it was a bit slow for an isekai.  I do get that this is more romance based than action based, but even for a romance show, its still slow even for that.  I am glad that there was already a 2nd season planned as the show left off in an odd spot that really wasn't much of an ending.

Parallel World Pharmacy

Dec 30, 2022

I wasn't sure how a story about a pharmacist would pan out but this anime was alright.  Its not a top tier anime, but it was enjoyable to watch.  My biggest complaint was the sound fluctuations as much of the speaking portions of the show have low volume, then if some action or music kicks off and that is blaring volume.  Thats not a huge issue but is an annoyance.  If you are looking for something fun to burn some time, this might be the show for you.
