Super Kuma-san

Jan 11, 2016

Super Kuma-san / Mister Super-Bear is on the weirder side of the spectrum of the anime I've seen so far. The premise seems very childish, yet more bizarre and somewhat darker elements are added to it.
The story is set in a park in a roundabout, where children come to play or watch a clown and his blue walking, talking stuffed bear. That idea may remind you of Winnie the Pooh, but contrary to Winnie, Mister Bear (or Kuma-san) is a superhero "in secret". His alias? Mister Super-Bear! Once transformed (meaning he rearranges his scarf), he goes out to save the day and stop evil! His... See full review

Nozoki Ana

Jan 10, 2016

Nozoki Ana aka A Peephole is a 42-minute long OVA (or 55 minutes if you watch the extended version) based on a manga of 13 volumes.  I dropped the manga at 2 volumes because it had a boring porn-story with some extremely dumb and equally boring characters. No need to worry about that though, because what little story the manga had, it wasn't put in the anime. The few interesting things in it were just left out, and all that we've got left is sex, masturbation, rape and the obligatory beach scene. Oh, and also boobs and panties. Almost forgot to mention those... Apart from that there's little... See full review

Five Star Stories

Jan 8, 2016

The Five Star Stories is an OVA that came out in 1989, based on a still "ongoing" manga that started in 1986 (for as far as you can call it ongoing, with only one volume being released in over 10 years). Given those circumstances, you can only expect the OVA to be an introduction to the series: it only adapts 1 Japanese volume (or 3 of the North-American volumes).  So, is the story here any good then? Simply put: I found it to be one big teaser. We get teasers for big mecha fights, teasers for an epic war, teasers for intricate political debates and even teasers for cool fights... See full review

Black Rock Shooter OVA

Jan 7, 2016

Story and characters As the synopsis states, Black Rock Shooter is a story about two dimensions/universes/worlds. In one, dark, universe, there is the cool fighting loli called Black Rock Shooter, fighting against other people. We get to see a bit of what this world looks like, but apart from fights nothing much happens (except at the ending, but i'm not going to spoil that) You may ask why they're fighting? The thing is, I don't know. It's never made clear why they're fighting. Personal grudge? War? Hero trying to slay the demon lord lady? We don't know anything about this world, nor about the... Komori-san Can't Decline!: Info Corner

Jan 6, 2016

Well, this was a worthless special. It's just an ad for the future releases of the DVD/BD of Komori-san Can't Decline! and the already released and upcoming volumes of the manga. While we are shown some scenes from the series again, the VAs talk about all that uninteresting stuff.  Total waste of time.

Komori-san Can't Decline!

Jan 6, 2016

Komori-san Can't Decline is a series of shorts based on the original 4-koma manga by the same guy who made I can't understand what my husband is saying ; which also got 2 series of shorts. Knowing that, I already didn't have very high expectations, since  I can't understand... was just "ok" in my book, and Komori-san's episodes are even shorter than that: 12 times 2 minutes (-30... Rescue Me!

Jan 5, 2016

Some anime just really deserve a review, so I decided to write one for Rescue Me!, a 1-episode OVA based on the original manga by Yoshiharu Makita, a guy you might know from one of his earlier works... namely 6 hentai manga. This + the super interesting premise of the show sets the tone for the glory that is this OVA. The story and characters The parents of our protagonist, Boring McDull, are overseas and he's home alone. Two thieves decide to raid his house   This means he's put on cruise-control towards becoming the male lead of a harem. The members of this harem are Horny Oppai... See full review

Area 88 TV

Dec 18, 2015

Area 88 was originally a manga series started in 1979, and got a 3-episode OVA-series in 1985-1986, which got lots of good reviews. Then, in 2004, there came a 12-episode anime series which people seem to just ignore, or at least I had never heard about it. That is, until Santa came along and put this on my watch list...
When I saw the synopsis of Area 88, I was reminded of Top Gun (which I liked a lot): an "ace pilot" is sent to the military, and then we get some air battles, some "slice of life in the military", and some other drama. However, Area 88 falls short in the execution... See full review

Sword Art Online

Nov 2, 2015

Because I felt the need to lower my score every time I saw this title, I decided to rewrite my review too to make it more complete and clear. This review contains some spoilers. Sorry for that SAO is probably one of the anime everybody knows about, and is loved by a big amount of people while hated by the others. The reason is simple imo: it's superficially trying to give everybody a good time, trying so hard to get everybody hooked, that it fails to do anything right. Let's start with the premise of the first part of the show (because it's divided in 2 parts, which aren't equally stupid but still... See full review

JK Meshi!

Oct 12, 2015

Updated after finishing This is probably the number one anime that has left me confused the most, after only 2 episodes. Not confused in the ways one gets confused by FLCL, or some other anime with a confusing story though. No, I'm confused because I can't seem to find out what the creators were thinking when making this. Because really, what is the point of making these things? Story These are episodic shorts of only about 4 minutes, so of course you shouldn't even expect a real storyline. But still, shorts can be entertaining in their own way if you do something meaningful with them... See full review

Bikini Warriors

Sep 25, 2015

Bikini Warriors seems to be what's born when a couple of guys sit together and start asking themselves how many tits and asses they can get in 4-minute shorts, while still keeping something that may or may not smell like a plot. Then, the animators decided to start putting the tits and asses together, and use the pretense of an RPG-parody to get the "storyline". Needless to say, there is no story to speak of, although some of the first episodes managed to make a pretty good parody. You also don't need to watch it for the characters: even the creators themselves were too lazy to give them any... See full review

Angel Beats!

May 21, 2015

For me, this was an enjoyable anime. It brings sadness and laughs, and in combination with some action this was a good mix imo. There are some people who say they didn't like this "mixing of genres", because "the show doesn't know what it wants to be", but i disagree. It's a show about life (and death) itself, so I find it quite logical that there are happy/funny moments as well as sad moments. Story: The plot is definitely not the strongest point of the show. The premise is quite interesting (i like stories about the afterlife) and the idea of fighting an angel to meet God is good... See full review

Inferno Cop

May 9, 2015

This is basically a parody on a number of known characters (Ghost Rider, Scarlet Witch, Terminator, etc) and is only watchable because of the comedy in it: Story: 2/10
There is no real story in this anime, only several random events that are loosely connected. Calling it a story is impossible. There's only random nonsense, which might work well to entertain some people, but it doesn't really work for me. Animation: 1/10
there was animation? No seriously, this is one heck of a low-budget anime: take a cardboard, draw a figure, move it yourself and record it: that's basically how it looks. I know... See full review

Passionate Detective Agency

May 8, 2015

Behold: an anime (as far as you can even call it that) without any redeeming features. No seriously, there is no story, nothing interesting happens, animation is low-budget with lots of stills and reused footage, and there isn't even any intro music. Voices are annoying too. Needless to say, characters are also barely present.  I recommend not wasting your time with this thing. It's not even in the category of "so bad it's good".

Bio Hunter

Apr 26, 2015

story: a professor and another dude fight demons at night when suddenly... oh, who am i kidding? there is no real story here. not one that makes sense anyway, although the authors tried to put something on it. There is no consistency, and everything is glued apart by ultra-convenient things (getting lucky on finding the right waterfall out of hundreds of waterfalls, a hand moving on its own etc.) animation: ok, although the facial expressions were bad. still watchable (it's old, but I expected worse) sound: music was generic and didn't fit the scenes, voice actors sounded bored as hell in... just writing this so people know they have to keep away from this: story: 0/10, it's just some weird (people? drops? aliens?) things  dancing sound: 0/10 it's a compilation of some of the most annoying sounds ever. I really wonder how the makers chose the sound. Were they just like "what would annoy people the most?" ?( I'd like to give a -2/10.) My dog started barking when it heard this. characters: 0/10, can't even tell if they're supposed to be human animation: the only thing that was above 0/10, but only because there was animation in the video

Spirited Away

Mar 2, 2015

The story of Spirited Away was as good as I'd expected from a movie that get's ratings this high. The premise isn't all that original (it's not the first time someone just randomly ends up in a strange world), but the execution was done wonderfully. You really stay interested in the story and want to know what's going to happen next. There's also some added suspense at just the right moments to keep things going. Animation: nothing new can be said here, I guess. Apparently the movie is 14 years old already, but even in much more recent anime there's rarely any animation this good: detailed... See full review

Battle of Clay

Jan 28, 2015

wtf did i just watch? well, it's a stop motion "movie" where a ball of clay pushes a newspaper ball, which hits another ball of clay. They end up fighting (or is that supposed to be sex at the end? honestly couldn't tell). So yeah, this is definitely the best story ever made. I obviously can't exactly give the characters a rating in this case. As far as there were sounds, they were worthless: some random noises don't help me understand what's going on! I guess I've got to give some credit for the "animation" because stopmotion / claymation is a pain to make, but the fact that I can't... See full review

Fairy Tail

Nov 21, 2014

Let’s start this review by saying that I’m a fan of this show. However, I’m not a fanboy who will look for excuses for every (huge or little) bad point. If you want a huge rant about why FT is bad, go look at roriconfan’s review. If you only want to hear “omg this is tha best show eva omg omg must watch blabla” then you should go somewhere else as well. I’ll go for the way in between those two: I really like the show, but I also see the good and bad points in it. Well, whatever, let’s get started. Common complaints about Fairy Tail Yes, this is going... See full review

K

Nov 20, 2014

"K" is just an amazing anime, one of my favourites. Story: (For the synopsis, look at what anime-planet gives you. It's quite ok .) The plot was really wel done imo. Some people complained about the presentation (sometimes something happens that only gets explained much later through flashbacks) but I didn't really see a problem. What I saw was a quite intelligent and interesting story that kept me wanting more. There aren't all that many anime that I devoured like I did with this one. Also, there were some actual, real plot-twists. As in twists you really don't expect, instead of all that... See full review

No Game No Life

Nov 17, 2014

Alright, short review, without spoilers of any kind:  Story: 2 siblings that are genius gamers (and NEETs) are magically transported to a realm where everything is decided by games. There, they decide to conquer the world by playing games.  Other than these ^  two lines, there isn't really much to the plot, which is basically only used to get them to play their next game. Animation I found it a bit weird at first, but once you get used to it, it is enjoyable. Sound ok, nothing special really Characters - the two needs with all kinds of social problems: they are actually quite... See full review

Aldnoah.Zero

Nov 16, 2014

note: I dropped this after 5 episodes. As thus, I can't tell you anything about the ending of the show (which i've heard is quite bad) Story Aldnoah Zero (AZ) is a show about the conflict between the people of Earth (Terrans) and their distant relatives from Mars (Martians). This basically starts because "the Terrans killed a Martian princess". This murder was as ridiculous as it could be: almost no security for the single most important person on Earth? Also, -spoiler- surprise (although this was too damn predictable)! it wasn't the terrans who killed her. It was a Martian plot. Also, -spoiler... See full review

Pokemon: The Origin

Nov 14, 2014

Best Pokemon show I've ever seen, I'm not really much of a fan of the anime and movies (with some minor exceptions) Pokemon has, but this one was actually quite good. It's got a simple, good, contained storyline which is quite accessible even for those who don't know too much about Pokemon. The fights are nice, and the animation was very good... in short: this has everything that would make Pokemon good! Although I was kind of disappointed to learn there were only 4 episodes. Worth the watch, even for those who normally don't like Pokemon too much

Sword Art Online II

Nov 11, 2014

Let's just say it like this to make it short: I quite enjoyed the first SAO-arc, which was the actual SAO. The episodic stories were kinde nice, and the fights were nice too. The Alfheim Online - arc was just plain bad and had nothing to do with it anymore, the little suspense we got was gone. Now, in season 2, it gets even worse: boring story, boring new side character called Sinon, boring new SHOOTER game called GUN gale online, where the MC still decides to use a fucking SWORD. Decided to keep watching anyway, and i got to the EXCALIBER-arc (yes, excaliber, not excalibur, for an idiotic reason... See full review

The Irregular at Magic High School

Nov 11, 2014

note: I did not read the light novels of this show I started watching this show mainly because I like everything that has to do with magic, and for me this show used quite a fresh concept of magic: instead of just shouting random stuff while wiggling with a wand, or just using mindcontrol for their magic, the "magical technicians" use "Casting Assistant Device (CAD)", with different kinds of control: typing a code, voice control (ok, that does feel a bit like shouting stuff), just pulling a trigger to fire magic bullets, etc.  At the start of the show, one of the first themes is...
