This is already seeming like it'll be one of my favorite shortter animes. The character scheme is ingenious, simple yet also plain and imbuing each character with special traits of their own. Story developement is slow paced, but for this anime it works perfectly. Action of the mind, you will find yourself utterly enticed trying to figure out the aim as well as motives of characters, as each is not without a story of their own. I you enjoy an anime which stimulates the mind in a realistic manner, with a melancholic air abput it, watch this. Keep in mind, I am making these remarks after only four episodes which take the time to set up the character map and take the viewer into the world of the story. Magnificent work

Both of these shows have intricate, twisty plots which I think will entertain fans of "puzzle-solving" types of shows. The characters' personal motivations put them at odds, which only adds to the entertainment and uncertainty. Certainly, Nanana has a much lighter atmosphere than Death Note, but if you want your mind to work while you watch, these two are definitely good choices!

But when a human girl accidentally wanders into his territory, is eaten by a carnivorous plant and comes back as a ghost, Staz makes a life-changing decision: he’ll help resurrect this lovely lady any way he can, even if it means heading to Earth! Both have super natural elements such as death gods called shimigami and vampires and demons.

The main character desides to become a hero, in death note by killing criminals, in blood lad by resurecting a girl that turned into a ghost back to her human form.

Based around a similar idea, Horror News is about a newspaper that says who is going to die, and Death Note is about a notebook which you can write in to say who is going to die.

If you liked watching Light fight against the authorities, then get ready to watch assassins duke it out against a currupt government. Just as Light is quickly set into the light of villian for wanting to rid the world of corruption, Night Raid receives the same treatment. However, while Light is in fact portrayed as a villian throughout his story, in Akame ga Kill you never question the righteousness of Night Raid. Regardless, both stories focus on the fact that corruption exists, and sometimes people are too appaled to stand by and watch it.

Night Head Genesis

Night Head Genesis

It is said that humans fear what is different, and that such fears drive much of human behavior. Naoto and Nayao learned the brutal truth of this statement when they see the looks on their parents’ faces, the day they were sent to an isolated laboratory to live out their youth. Their crime? Possessing inherent psychic abilities. Yet now, the brothers have escaped and are at last free to experience the world, but they soon discover that their prison was also their protection from the outside world. The question is, are their powers more dangerous to themselves, or those around them?

Night Head Genesis and Death Note are both very intense and psychological anime. They have kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering "what will happen next"? The mystery, drama, horror, violence, and supernatural of both anime are somewhat similar. Night Head Genesis has psychic powers, while Death Note has shinigami. Their plots are based on the same genres, but differ in how the story goes. The characters are relatively the same in the area of the mind, but the personalities are polar opposites. These two anime are good to watch if you like a lot of violence with mystery, horror, and drama mixed together. Add some of the supernatural and there you are with the perfect Friday night, mind game and high stakes marathon.

Two series dealing with very similar themes of enforcing justice through non-conventional means. Both series contain a lot of death and psychological thriller and is generally written in a somewhat clever (albeit bordering on the unbelievable) way.

Main difference is the lack of the supernatural in Ranpo Kitan and the character cast. Some of the main and secondary characters have parallels, but the types of characters are mostly different, as is the general plot. (Renpo Kitan feels much more episodic / arcbased than the more plot driven progression in Death Note)
