Both are shounen animes, featuring a young, white haired boy, with very special right eye.   While they are completely different character, they both decide to join an elite organisation, partially due to influence of their mentor (or teacher in D.Gray case).

In both animes enemies are some sort of weird and dengerous "machine like "creatures (at least at the beginning of the show). In both cases the only way to defeat them is by using the special power (amber in Letter Bee, innocence in D.Gray )

cassiesheepgirl cassiesheepgirl says...

Though completely different in their narrative, both D.Gray-Man and Letter Bee have a very similar feel about them. Both share a similar sort of comedic content, though it is a lot more prevalent in D.Gray-man. If you enjoyed one, then you might want to check out the other.

In both series worlds exists an institution with Good guys and with the Bad ones.

The main characters are of course on the Good sides :). They are white haired boys with power inside their one eye, they both are looking for their precious friend/mentor which had dissappeared in the past and even maybe joined with the Bad ones.

When watching Letter Bee at first you can think that Allen (D.Gray Man) plays Gauche Suede – he is not! He is playing Lag Seeing :)

bakaneko1990 bakaneko1990 says...

Both main characters share many traits. For example, both talk in a very polite way and have met someone in the past, who lead them on a specific way (Lag met Gauche, Allen met Mana or/and Cross). Also both have a left eye, which holds some kind of “special power”. Letter Bee as well as D.Gray-man tells a story about an organization and its members (still having a mc of course). Also the akuma and the gaichuu share some resemblances. Both can only be fight by the exorcists/letter bees and some kind of special weapon. Also both react to the hearts of people or/and their emotions.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The foundation of alchemy is based on the law of equivalent exchange; you cannot produce something from nothing. As such, alchemy is bound by one taboo - human transmutation. Four years ago two young brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, broke this taboo when they tried to resurrect their dead mother. During the process Al's body disintegrated and Ed lost his leg. In a desperate attempt to prevent his brother from disappearing completely, Ed sacrificed one of his arms so he could affix Al's soul to a suit of armor. When his missing limbs are replaced by auto mail parts, Ed bears the name of the Fullmetal Alchemist - the youngest ever State Alchemist and dog of the military. Now, alongside his brother, Ed uses his status within the military to attempt to find any way that he can return their bodies back to their original state.

Both are shounen shows with unique fantasy world setting.  While they are very different, they also share many similarities. They both manage to skillfully mix adventure/comedy parts with more darker tunes. Both worlds are  strictly controled and have a large gap between different "casts" ( militaristic regime and Ishbalan  oppresion in FMA,  3 different standards of living and strict way of enforcing the status quo in Letter Bee).

Also in both shows main character joins an organisation, which is looked down upon as a "dogs of the government (State Alchemists in FMA and Letter Bees in Letter Bee).

While both shows have their unique stories, the overall mood and quality is similar - if you like one, you should also enjoy the other.

Both are Shounen, but Letter Bee is more pretty? and FMAB is more actiony... They are both bound to governent (dogs of the government) with a Fantasy feel.

Both present a nation with a strict government, though most of the government´s actions are either unknown, unnatural or suspicious.

Shigofumi

Shigofumi

There are some things that can only be said after death. Aided by a talking staff that thinks it is alive, Fumika delivers Shigofumi, the last words and feelings of the dead in the form of letters, to their addressees. Whether they are letters of apology, revenge, or simply a final farewell, she always brings them to their destination. Delivering Shigofumi is not always an easy job; as some people refuse to believe such things as letters from the dead are possible, while others are afraid of what these letters might contain. But the mail must go through; what the recipients decide to do with it afterwards is up to them.

Both Letter Bee and Shigofumi are about mil carriers with a difference. While one is set in a fictional world, and the other in modern day Japan, both place heavy focus on delivering heartfelt emotions to people who will be unable to see their loved ones for one reason or another. If you enjoyed this about one, then it's well worth trying the other.

Each of these series reolve around someone not in an "ordinary" circumstance delivering letters. Each series is centered mainly around younger kids and supernatural events.

Letter Bee and Shigofumi are both about mail carriers whose jobs are a little more unusual than just delivering everyday mail. Both shows focus on questions of right/wrong and what it means to be human.

Both series are about a boy with powers he is still trying to understand. They are both set in fantastical worlds with their own religion and government, and the main character has to find his way in the world. Both show the friendships and connections necessary in order to make it in the world, and both mix adventure and drama with humor to make an entertaining mix.

Both main characters have a special eye, one in place of an eye and the other in his hand, which gives them unordinary abilities.

Both portray a general dislike for the main government.

The main characters are aided by a non-human friend.

Both series have a kind of a mistic feel to them, and leave you with more questions than answers at the end. Also, both sceneries are placed in an imaginary, fictioned world, and characters are also very interesting and simmilar at some points. The story follows a young boy who is strugling to unravell the secrets of his past that have been bothering them for a long time, and both cases have to do with dissapearance of a parent. Along the way, the protagonists of both series meet friends and allies who help them along the way and are always there to support them, offering themselves and their lives to save one another. Two touching stories with a lot of heart in them which you're sure to enjoy all the way, and about which you will be thinking a long time after finishing.

Probably the biggest similarity between the two is that they both feature main characters who tend to rely on other characters in the series to help them out and get them out of trouble.  Though when the time comes they can fight for themselves.  Also at the end of each series they both create a nice setup to lead into the next season.

A young boy with white hair and special abilities who isn't exactly human but takes the form of a human and is searching for a friend they care deeply for is the main character in both these anime. Both characters join or sort of join a government agency to find the friend they lost. Both include themes of human and animal experimentation, special powers, before the invention of phones (although Karneval has a similar device), and is set in a different world.
