Over the top eccentirc art/animation with a plot that has very similar themes all throughout. A show with characters who wish / appear to be normal but with a twist. In both cases, this twist is exhibited through aliens. The shows both have a pseudo-mahou-shoujo vibe with a relatively unique spin on the transformation sequences. In general, the comedy is similar, but be wary that Kill la Kill might feature more action relative to the amount of comedy.

So far there aren't many differences of note aside from the difference in episode length and the quality (note: NOT style) of the animation. Another point of difference is the cast of characters, even if there are parallels, the role of these characters is slightly different.

Done by the same studio (Trigger) and the Kill la Kill spoof in Space Patrol Luluco is hilarious if you watched Kill la Kill.

SpanglishJC SpanglishJC says...

Both of these shows share a very over the top attitude with a lot of fast paced, crazy action and it is full of humour.

Both these shows are made by Trigger and share that unique Trigger animation style that is pulled off so very well, Kill la Kill is more elaborate than Luluco due to it being the bigger project. They are also directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, if you like the shows he has worked on then both of these shows are definitely worth your time, especially if you have seen or liked either KLK or Space Patrol Luluco already.

So here we have two trigger shows that aren't too serious and both quite easy to watch if you like comedy and 'fun' based anime. They both have a similar art style and have an interesting range of characters away from your typical few. Both shows I would really recommend to a person, and are worth a watch at least one. However both of these shows may only suit a certain auidence, so if you didn't like one of these I wouldn't recommend you watch the other but if you did like it please try out the other.

Both have the same director and a very fast paced story with quirky characters and unique art. Biggest difference is Luluco is way less crude than Dead Leaves.

Need a short in your life? Like random comedy and a sci-fi setting? Well you should probably watch Space Patrol Luluco, it utilises its world to brilliant comedic effect, and makes countless references to other Trigger and Gainax shows, but if you're looking for more, then maybe 100 Byou[...] is worth a try too. It also uses random comedy and manages it pretty well, and I feel the two share enough similarities that if you enjoy one, you should get some enjoyment from the other.

In order to accomplish their goals they decide to work at NASA; but due to their inevitably busy schedules, Miyu is sent to live with a friend of the family. On the day she arrives at her new home, her caretaker leaves on a religious pilgrimage, leaving her alone with his son Kanata. To top it off, an alien baby crashes into the house that night! The ship is too damaged to fly so the baby and his pet/baby sitter decide to live with Miyu and Kanata until help arrives, whenever that may be. How can two unrelated middle school kids learn to live together while raising a baby that insists on calling them mom and dad?

Naota Nanbada is a boring young boy who leads a boring life in a boring town. His older brother has left for America, and the closest he comes to any excitement is when his deadbeat dad has too much sake. But things change one day when a bizarre girl zooms up to him on a scooter and smacks him in the face with her guitar. What's more, once Naoto returns home he discovers that this strange woman has arrived ahead of him and moved in! Not only does she constantly engage in perverted activities with Naota's father and flirt with the young man himself, but she also claims to be an alien who is searching for the ‘Pirate King.' Now, Naota must learn to live with this new intruder, deal with an odd government agent who sports exceptionally large eyebrows and the mysterious Medical Mechanica, and come to terms with the fact that there are a variety of robots and weapons emerging out of his head - amongst other things. Perhaps boring wasn't so bad after all...

Both stories are about children learning about a particular subject and maturing, both are stylish and lovingly animated, both are breezy and are creatively open for their story type and both are fun!

Skit based comedy that is completely absurd and involves a cast of characters who constantly escalate things.
