Misaki Takahashi has little hope of getting into a university, so his older brother Takahiro's friend, Usami Akihiko, offers to tutor Misaki as a favor to Takahiro - for Usami is secretly in love with him. However, as time passes Misaki realizes that he has uncomfortable and budding feelings for Usami. Meanwhile, Hiroki is a man who can't get over an unrequited love with Usami in the past - and with the help of Nowaki, he may finally learn to love again. These couples and more experience the joys and sadness of love between men under the most unlikely conditions.
The anime doesn't capture the progress made in the main couple's relationship, between Usagi and Misaki. The anime is sometimes confusing because it captures 4 different storylines under the same name, where the manga has different titles for the different storylines. In the manga, there is a lot of growth and character development shown, which there is a lack of in the anime. The anime itself is cute, however, the manga showcases a more improved and detailed storyline along with character development. In the manga, there is genuine advancement in the characters' feelings towards one another, and different scenarios unfold to allow further development to occur. This is good and the anime should have more of this, but yes; overall, i highly recommend reading the manga. Even watch an episode or a few of the anime to maybe get more context of the characters and who says what, but continue on with the manga. Indulging in the manga will provide with a much better experience. Personally, I even prefer the manga's style and art in comparison to the anime's. Thank you for reading this review, hope it helped. ALSO! The anime is milder in subject to age-wise content, but if you are comfortable with a little more explicit and may not be suitable for all readers; just a warning <3 proceed if you are good with that stuff
Junjou romantica is a pure romance. Truly. I liked the character development and the story line. How the characters were linked together in unusual circumstances. Usami came out strong and misaki cute. Misaki's brother is an airhead. I liked the setup of the story. I also had a laugh seeing usami's jealousy. I have watched the Anime before I started reading the manga. It's still an ongoing series so I just have to see how it progresses. Overall, a good read.
First I have watched the anime serie, and I loved it. To be honest I've watched probably three times already. I recently started to read manga. When I saw theire was also a manga serie of Junjou Romantica I wanted to read it. But In the manga they jump even more often from one storyline into the next. I found it a bit confusing. I love the characters and the story itself. In short I prefer the anime adaptation over the manga serie. Well I guess everyone has to decide what they prefer. So I definitly hope you give the manga and the anime a fair chance!!
