These anime are essentially the same, Code:Breaker is just more action-oriented where as Death Note is more logic and thinking. They both deal with a teenage boy who kills any criminal not being judged (or not being judged well enough) by the law. Ogami and Light are also very similar characters in that they can be nice and charismatic, but also cold and calculating. There's also an irritating female main character in both of them, though Sakura is significantly more annoying than Misa. Both of these anime explore the morals of a death penalty and who has the right to pass judgement on criminals and who doesn't; as well as despite killing people being evil, does killing criminals actually make the world a better place?

snivets snivets says...

Both of these anime develop their plot around the exploration of the meaning and limits of justice, asking tough questions about who has the right to judge and kill criminals.

Shywolf Shywolf says...

This was one of the most awesomest, greatest. trumatic, saddest, dramatic and, best Anime ones that I have watched so far. I think anyone who likes action, a bit of romantic attractions , drama and people from the past that come back to hunt you and saving people in the city and Gory and superpowers or supernatural abilities or defending the city with your own kind of justice by killing bad people or something like that then I would recommend this to anyone who likes any of these things that I mentioned !!!!!!

MONSTA11 MONSTA11 says...

Both have main characters who are bent on eliminating "evil" and who won't hesitate to kill innocent people if they think they are in the way of their twisted sense of justice.

Characters:

Both character's are very well, alike. Both girls have nullification and both of the boys have fire / dangerous abilities. Both acting the same, girl is protective and happy-go-lucky. While the boy acts stubborn and cold-hearted, but is actually very kind and caring.

Story:

Both stories are pretty similar, both starting of my seeing eachother in school at first. Wait no, park. Then school, but for Gakuen Alice they start at school. Both threatening the girls at first, finding out they both have nulification which is "rare" for both anime's. Though, Code:Breaker is more violent and Gakuen Alice is more action, etc etc.

I'd reccommend watching Gakuen Alice first, then moving on to manga.

ELIIISE ELIIISE says...

Well I wouldn't have thought of this recommendation at first, but as said below, we can notice some similarites between those Two animes.

GA and CB aren't from the same category; one is a shonen where the other is a shojo.

But the main converging point is that in both series, the main guy is mean and stoeic and the girl is cheerfu, brave and caring. They both will help the main guy to free from his worries and will always be here to support him.

What's more, the main guy from both series will come to trust the main girl for once in their life, what's unusual for them because due to some events, they have closed themselves.

Another difference is that in GA, the story occurs while the characters are in elementary school (they are really mature, and even more mature than some high school characters from other series: AMNESIA!!!!) whereas in CB action takes place with high school characters.

If you liked one, you might like the other, but keep in mind it is not at all the same plots but you can find some points you like in both.

marsonearth marsonearth says...

Because of the power the MC holds, the girl are alike, as well as the story and the romence) Definitely recommend this on both ends, although Gakuen Alice is a bit more more for minors...

2. Also, the story is oranized the same way. Awesome individuals with strange powers and their mission to fulfill something.

3. Has alot of epic battles with great animation.

4. Each character is great in his/her own way yet still maintain a leader and subordinate relationship to some degree.

5. Characters: well-developed; animation: nicely drawn and detailed; ending: to an extent, satisfying.

as for my opinion, these two anime are semi relatedly because of using Ao Flames as their main power, and these flames are used in their enemies.

I think Code:Breaker and Shinrei Tantei Yakumo are alike because both have the following in common. First they both have main male characters with a special power. Second they both have a female character who doesn't give up or quit after main male character is rude, cold hearted, and generally tsundere against her. Third they are alike because both characters use their power to do what they have to do but aren't thrilled to have to do the task at hand. Fourth, I think the characters are kind of similar in appearance.

I think if you liked the supernatural aspect of Code:Breaker you would enjoy Shinrei Tantei Yakumo.

Code Breaker is alot like The Unlimited they both have this dark and twisted world where ppl with out power use ppl with power for their own ambitions. Both main characters have a similar way of acting cold towards others even though they actually care more than they want ppl to know. Both main characters are also very cool and powerfull.

I found the female leads of these were similar. There both physically strong and successful girls and they seem to share a strong sense of justice. Another thing I found similar is that they are both against an enemy much bigger than themselves.

Also, over the course of both serieses, the form tight bonds with those fighting along side them.

Zetman

Zetman

However, when his mentor dies during a fight with a strange monster he finally learns the meaning of death. Having been taken in by a stripper named Akemi whom he once saved, Jin begins to live a quiet and normal life - though in reality he is anything but ordinary. With superhuman abilities and a group of mysterious men searching for him under the name of Zet, over the years Jin finds himself drawn into a world of creatures with dangerous powers called "Players". But what is Jin really, and with his vicious methods of defeating these threats, is he really a hero for justice or simply another dangerous monster?

Although the theme of justice and the question of what heroes really are may not be very original, both of these series focus on those topics and try to explore them in a slightly different way than usual. Basically they are shounen-ish anime about people with superpowers, but the somewhat darker tone makes them just a bit different from all those shows with similar premise.

I personally preferred Zetman, despite its "odd" visual style, but if you liked one of these for characters or story, try out the other one.

etera2011 etera2011 says...

Similarities:

1. Both have a protagonist who is powerful, resourceful, ambitious, idealist, indifferent, and mysterious.

2. Stories are pretty similar in terms of:

a- both protagonists are in the servitude of the greater good.

b- unpredictable storyline; action-thriller that will make you want to watch next                 episode ASAP (and that's a good thing because both have ended).

c- [SORT OF SPOILER ALERT] very satisfying yet unpredictable ending

3. Animation really detailed and attractive.

4. Has some romance involved but more like a side-story than a focus.

5. Both protagonists have a super power and likewise the supporting characters. However, in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, it's Lelouch's (the main protagonist) enemies that have super powers. In Code:Breaker, it's Ogami's (the main male protagonist) teammates that have super powers.
