Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh both ahve a lot a like, for instance i got into both of them because of the card game that i played and collected, then there was an anime to follow!

If you like the anime which is based around battle tournaments and gaming, I reccomend this anime highly.

Both protaganists care for their friends highly but also want to reach the top of their game.

Both are rather light hearted but have a darker theme in them as well. (Even though this darker theme isn't really dark, it just is in comparison to the rest of the show. )

If you enjoyed one then you will enjoy the other.

Just like Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon is a gaming anime. Both shows have alot in common, and for many, when peopel thing Yu-Gi-Oh, they'll also thing Pokemon. Or the other way round. Both have brave, determined characters and cute but intriguing monsters. If you are a girl, you'll probs like Pokemon more then Yu-Gi-Oh, due to it being created for both sexes, while Yu-Gi-Oh was more aimed at boys

The series are similar in that through a game the world is being threatened and to save the world the hero must keep winning at the game. Both series are competitive and the some of the characters are even similar. If you liked one you'll enjoy the other.

Beyblade: V-Force

After winning the title of World Champion Beyblader, Tyson’s ego couldn’t be more extreme. The other members of the Bladebreakers have moved on to tasks of their own: Max is studying up at a research lab, Ray returned home and is teaching kids how to play the game, and Kai has disappeared. Their thrill of winning soon fades as each member is targeted one by one by hooded opponents who possess blades with invisible bit-beasts within! Unfortunately for the gang, they are also being hunted by a secret evil organization who wants the Bladebreakers’ bit beasts for themselves. Countless battles and fierce opponents await our champions!

Cardcaptor Sakura

Cardcaptor Sakura

Sakura Kinomoto never imagined that by opening a book in her father's library, she'd be responsible for releasing wild magic into the world, yet that's exactly what she did. Too powerful to be let loose on the world, the magical Clow cards were sealed away long ago by their creator, Clow Reed. But all is not lost, for the guardian beast, Keroberos, was sealed along with the cards! Can Sakura, with the help of Keroberos, retrieve the cards before they wreak havoc on the town?

You would like this anime is you liked the idea of monsters in cards.

Although it is rather obvious that CCS is more for girls and Yu-Gi-Oh! more for boys they are both still a good watch. Yu-Gi-Oh has more competitiveness in it than CCS as it is based on a game and Cardcaptor Sakura isn't so much. Despite this though they both have just enough fighting in them for the people who can't watch an anime without it.

Even though they have so many major differences, i still reccommend that you try the anime.

Duel Masters

Duel Masters

Now Shobu and his friends not only have to win the championship, but also try to figure out who these people are and why they're so interested in Shobu.

D.N.Angel

D.N.Angel

For Niwa Daisuke, turning 14 should be accompanied by romance and the promise of new adventures into adulthood, but instead comes with a surprising revelation: all male children of the Niwa's bloodline inherit the powers (alter ego) of Dark, a phantom thief, upon their 14th birthday! Now, in addition to his ever-present quest to win the heart of his childhood friend Risa, Daisuke must commit acts of thievery (with his doppelganger Dark controlling his body), to steal mysterious pieces of art for unknown purposes. For Daisuke, his growing pains are just beginning!

Although there is not much similarity between the plots, both anime like to mix humor and seriousness. The most important reason for this recommendation is because of the similarity between the protagonists: both Daisuke and Yuugi are typical 'uke' characters, being not really manly, short, and viewed as girl-friends of the girls. Moreover, both characters have other, much older personas sealed in them, who are not only more 'cool', but are more popular with the girls (in both cases the girl the protagonist is in love with) and are smarter than their vessels: Yami is excellent at games, winning anything he tries, while Dark is a thief the police cannot catch, no matter what high-technology they use.

One more similarity is that both have a pair - another person that has a person sealed inside them, and that is the arch-enemy of Yami/Dark. In both cases, the vessel of the evil is not someone who wishes to harm Daisuke/Yuugi.

Both anime are about friends banding together for one purpose - to show the power of friendship to those who would a oppose them. They are also concetrated on a sacred power given to the main character - who is small but gains strength of heart - to guide the main character and his friends.

While the original Yu-Gi-Oh! is entirely different than the card game series, it feels close to Spiral, since it doesn't have much to do with the card game yet, which makes it a lot more serious.

Both series are about smart games of life and death, and they have a specific feeling to it, which is rarely to find anywhere. If you like the atmosphere in one, you'll probably like the other one as well.

Both anime series feature various puzzles (= deadly games), where people are punished for failure and are mostly episodic. Do note that the YGO! series I have in mind is the original one with 27 episodes.
