Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

For Kouta and Yuka, finding the bloody naked young girl on the beach would change their lives forever, for better or for worse. Unable to speak or function as a normal human being, she is named Nyu by the duo, and taken into their home in an effort to save her. But what neither teenager knows is that this innocent young girl is actually a killing machine -- an experiment gone terribly wrong -- and it is only a matter of time before the murderer in her awakens again...

sothis sothis says...

Elfen Lied has an insane amount of blood and gore, just like Tokko, and an equivalent amount of excessive ecchi as well. If you liked Tokko, I think there's no possible way you wouldn't like Elfen Lied.

KleptoPanda KleptoPanda says...

The absurd pace of Tokko, in the sense of plot development, cannot quite match that of Elfen Lied. However the genre is impeccably the same. Whilst the major distinction between the two is the age of the characters (with the exception of the plot and structural differences at this point), their behavior is almost the same. Elfen Lied lacks the protagonist character that Tokko is personified by. Just how much you like Elfen Lied will be dependent on the proportion of factors that drew you to Tokko: the gore and the plot. Elfen Lied has no shortage of the former but the latter, while existent, is incoherent at sometimes. Either way Elfen Lied is a must watch if you enjoyed Tokko.

Darkmoor Darkmoor says...

There aren't many good gory anime, so I recommend you fellows that like slaughter to see these also. Both Elfen Lied and Tokko have a strange touch to them, which I think all people that see them will notice. If you liked one of them you will most likely enjoy the other, as they have a similar 'drama' and 'gore'.

RaptorClaw RaptorClaw says...

These anime have a similar feeling to them, both in the depth of emotion, the violent battles and short episode runs, which call for a compact story. The main characters find themselves immersed unwillingly in a world of bloody fighting, because of gifts they were born with (in Elfen Lied) or came to possess at an early age (in Tokko), and the series are about how they cope (or do not) with the added responsibility.

nean123 nean123 says...

Tokko and Elfen Lied share many aspects, one being the uncanny ability to turn a serious situation into a humorous act, or the uncanny ability to make your jaw hang open as you sit fixated on the intense but brutal action in front of your eyes.

Elfen Lied and Tokko are both thirteen episodes long, which makes twenty six episodes of nonstop action that you're bound to love. If you were a fan of one, you'd do well to at least try the other.

crawller crawller says...

If you gore and supernatural things i would reccomend elfen Lied and Tokko. Gore and (a bit ecchi) is about the thing they have in common. If you're looking for a gore anime with a great story you should watch Elfen lied.

Oehr Oehr says...

Both series are very bloody and don't hold back with ecchiness. If you liked one, I think you would enjoy the other series too!

Claymore

Claymore

In times of olde, humans live in constant fear of demons known as yoma. These vicious creatures can take the appearance and memories of humans they have devoured, thus blending into society as they freely feast on human flesh. The key to stopping the yoma lies with the tolerated yet feared Claymores - women who are half-demon, half-human, and fully fated to become the demons that they hunt. Meanwhile, in a village, the young Raki has been banished; his only crime was losing his family to the yoma. Raki is drawn to a Claymore named Clare, and together their journey begins. While Clare fights the yoma plaguing the land, can Raki help her in her struggle to retain her humanity?

Although set in completely different time periods, both anime have a similar story and feel. Both the fighting style and amounts of gore in each are similar. If you like one, you would like the other.

bakanene bakanene says...

I think Claymore and Tokko have similar stories placed in different time periods. While Claymore creates an ancient atmosphere Tokko story evolves in modern times.

Both of them include sword fighting, dark misterious creatures and of course blood.

JSai JSai says...

First, if you're into animes that have a female character with that mysterious demeanor and hint of horrible past, then you'd certainly be interested in watching Claymore.

Tokko and Claymore are basically about a special group of people who have a job of destroying a band of 'supernatural' beings.

In addition, the two animes are action-packed and contains gore. Both chooses swords as a way to fight, slashing enemies into little bits of pieces.

I think that both final episodes of these two animes would upset you and make you wish for more, as I did!

Najaraja Najaraja says...

Aside from the setting (Tokko being set in modern day and Claymore having a more medieval setting) both Tokko and Claymore have almost the exact same plot themes:  humanity is being attacked by demons and only a select organization has the ability to kill them.

FireFlower FireFlower says...

If you liked Tokko then I have to recommend you to watch Claymore. Consider Claymore as same as Tokko but events happen during middle-ages where girls have very very big swords.

Who wouldn't love girls swinging around swords taller than they are?

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

The characters Tokko and Claymore both take into account an awareness of the world around them and try to fit into it even though they have some special powers that do not always let them adapt.  There are tons of fights scenes in each with plenty of gore to keep viewers entertained.

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

I agree, both Claymore and Tokko are very similar. They could almost be the same stories just one based on the distant past and one in the late 80s. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.

If you Like HOTD you may like TOKKO because blood, gore and violance, a decent story but a bad cliffhanger at the end. But in terms of violence just as good as HOTD.

sothis sothis says...

Tokko and Highschool of the Dead are both horror series with a large about of random ecchi as well - though HSOTD is FAR more extreme in that arena. HSOTD is better in a horror sense but both are fairly brainless series.

kissmetgen kissmetgen says...

Blood splattering galore. Both series involve characters in high school fighting blood sucking zombies or demons!

badazz5001 badazz5001 says...

both are series that feature a lot of fanservice and are exsessivley violent. They feature little charecetr development.  Both are nfun series if your not in the mood to really think.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

Tokko and High School of the Dead are filled with violence, gore, and blood.  The horror experienced in each of these series involves a new element while drawing in some fabulous fanservice.

TomikelT TomikelT says...

In both anime there is a group of people who go around killing undead/paranormal phenomena. Highschool of the Dead focuses more on a survival story with a touch of harem. Tokko is a goverment agency comprised of the chosen few that combats the paranormal while having a love intrest with the main protagonist.

Both Blood+ and Tokko feature main characters that are taken away from their normal lives and plunged into violent combat. Although with heavy gore and lengthy fights, the series actually focus on their feelings as they come to accept their gifts and the responsibility of power.

Day22 Day22 says...

Both these anime's have their fair share of violence. They both have supernatural aspects to their plots. The character's are pretty similar and the plots are fairly close

shikamaru181 shikamaru181 says...

Both of these series focus on their main character's being forced into a world they don't want to be in and how their emotions and they themselves change as they begin to accept their destiny and new power. They both also involve demons, or demon like beings and their very gory deaths.

AkumaSama AkumaSama says...

Both series the main character has to fight Monsters that want to destroy the human race. they make new friends that fight along them to destroy these monsters. So, if you like Tokko you'd also would like Blood+.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

Blood+ and Tokko have main characters that are thrust out of their daily lives into a whole new type of world.  Both have to live up to their own potential and change their own perspective of how to overcome the challenges that face them and the enemies they encounter.

GANTZ

GANTZ

Much to the annoyance of Kei, he and his childhood friend Kato have died, having been torn apart by a train. But rather than finding themselves at the gates of heaven, the duo materialize in a room full of strangers and a giant black sphere known as GANTZ. As if dying once wasn’t bad enough, the occupants of the room are then forced to embark on dangerous missions to kill strange aliens; missions that very few return from. Now, Kei, Kato, and a well-endowed friend must fight for their freedom with an arsenal of guns, high powered suits, and a very low chance of survival.

RaptorClaw RaptorClaw says...

Both these anime feature characters that join, willingly or not, secret factions that fight monsters. The protagonists find themselves in the middle of a secret war, and only their will and strength can save them. Bloody and violent, with vicious fights full of gore and dismemberment, GANTZ and Tokko are not for the faint of heart.

LxTrix LxTrix says...

Gantz and Tokko both feature blood and violence. They both feature strange creatures. And they both make you feel like you wanna see the main character achieve their goal at the end before their end. Check em out. ^_^

Regis Regis says...

both have similar story lines a young male being thrust into a secret team dedicated to kill strange monsters. surrounded by gore and strange monsters while also dealing psychological trauma of the death of those around them. and if you liked either chances are you'll ifnd the other worth watching

FireFlower FireFlower says...

If you happened to like Tokko, I think you are most likely going to like also this. GANTZ just throws everything we might consider normal upside down, where dead guys are hired to kill aliens, they don't get instructions or anything.

It has a lot blood, never-seen-before scenes and of course a lot blood and guts.

Taumaturgos Taumaturgos says...

An unexpected and not-from-this-world events start occuring and no one can explain at first what's going on. That's how both shows summary could start. Each anime is full of blood, gore and flying body parts too. Additionally both titles are spiced with few other similiarities, like sexy outfits for example :)

Buso Renkin

Buso Renkin

Some things in life are so bad that you'd like to pretend they're just a dream. Unfortunately for Kazuki, trying to save a strange girl from being brutally killed by monsters (and ending up dying instead) is an unfortunate reality. Out of pity, the girl replaces Kazuki's heart with an alchemy-based artifact known as Kakugane, so that he may live on. With this strange device, Kazuki gains the power of Busou Renkin -- Arms Alchemy; a power that will come in handy when monsters (and worse) begin to plague his town! Kazuki soon meets the girl from his “dream” (named Tokiko) in reality, and she tells Kazuki to get on with his life; but with his sister and friends in danger, that might not be possible. Besides, if Kazuki gives up the chance to show off just how manly he can be, how can he hope to win the heart of the alluring older-sister-like Tokiko?!

These anime explore the dilemma of ordinary people who quit their normal lives to join an organization bent on fighting evil. Thus, they learn the value of life, and the extent of their powers. Tokko and Busou Renkin both have a strong storyline and great characters, and are really a matching pair.

Hellsing

Hellsing

The average citizen does not notice, but vampires are running rampant among the populace, and it's up to the Hellsing organization to contain the bloodsucker threat, using even their own weapons against them. Alucard, a vampire himself, is the best agent the organization has to offer, answering only to Integra Hellsing herself. No one knows much about this mysterious figure fighting against the occult, but things starts to change after he “recruits” a new agent to the establishment...

Kagekiba Kagekiba says...

Both Tokko and Hellsing involve a light hearted cop who becomes part of a secret organization, and both anime have mysterious characters and a fairly dark plot.

Otaku1 Otaku1 says...

Tokko was an interesting series which pined a normal sort of everyday cop into a world of demons and magic. He becomes a hunter of demons. If you like the idea of this you might find Hellsing very much alike in its charcter development and plot. Hellsing takes an everyday "busty" police officer and puts her into a situation not only to die! but also to have her reborn as a vampire who hunts down other vampires.

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh

Two siblings, Kiyoko and Tatsuya, live in a future reshaped by a terrorist attack known only as "Twin X". In this terrible new world, advanced technology such as computers and radios no longer function and even the very sky has become something terrifyingly alien. Even worse, they are also coveted by their father, the terrorist who caused the "Twin X", Gilgamesh!

Set in a futuristic world, both shows have Japan plagued with an unknown enemy. Lots of sword play, plenty of gore and a good fantasy story line make these two shows the perfect partner.

Definitely not for younger viewers, as the violence is excessive for some and the storyline is quite involved and complex.

AardvarkRex AardvarkRex says...

Both follow members of a special police unit fighting demons. In both they have to deal with the danger of being taken over by the demons / turning evil in addition to internal affairs / conspiracies within their own organization. Lots of (gory) action in both but GRZ places a greater focus on drama.

Violence, supernatural powers, monsters, gore, betrayal, and hard as nails characters - Tokko and Speed Grapher have a lot in common. Both are sort of horror mysteries featuring a detective like main character fighting it out with the bad guys. In Speed Grapher he's a photo journalist, in Tokko he's a police detective, and in both he's man on the side of justice who has to go beyond the system in search of answers. If you enjoyed one of these you probably will like the other.
