Keep in mind, this is written only 4 episodes into Talentless Nana, but so far I get a strong Death Note vibe from it. Both involve understanding the psychology of killers and predicting their behavior. Both have a cat-and-mouse type story of the two main characters working together while also knowing (but cannot prove) the other is against them.

Mewkityy Mewkityy says...

Talentless Nana is similar to Death Note, just a more cutesy style. Every new discovery leaves you on the edge and both the protag and antag (at the moment) have extreme analytical skills that allows them to worm their way through their situations and flip things in their favor.

Zathereth Zathereth says...

Death note is a murder mystery where the detective is actually intelligent and so is the murderer. Unlike Talentless Nana in which all of the characters are just GTA NPCs that are standing on the street waiting to be killed.

22ouncebitch 22ouncebitch says...

phycological mind games all day every day. the murderer and the detective tip toeing around each other, both knowing who's who but not having enough proof.

they both include murder mysteries and thrilling plot twists which make them both really interesting and exciting to watch

LUCIIIII LUCIIIII says...

They are both include physiological, and have thrilliing plot twists. They both also inclucude a smart detective and murderer who are playing like cat and mouth. :)

But of course, the plot and character development of Death Note was still more advanced and exciting.

These anime's both include psychologically distressed girls with a pink hair trope. Talentless Nana I'd say has more plot development and Happy sugar Life was a lot more pschologically deep with some characters really shocking me.

Both main characters form an attachment to a sweet character that makes them wish to better thier nature.

LUCIIIII LUCIIIII says...

Both of the animes include a pink haired, main character who appears to be really sweet, but theirs way more darkness underneath the skin.

They are also both really smart characters, who also both have a type of "child" they try to protect, even though Happy Sugar Life interprets that in a more possesive, overprotective way  different  to Talentless Nana. And both Satou and Nana are also killers, and have a sad past.

But I would still say that Happy Sugar Life, focuses more in the Psycological way while Talentless Nana focuses more in the Plot . If you like either of this two animes I think you would like the other one too. :)

Talentless Nana resembles Happy Sugar Life in many ways. They shared a twisted main character who later discovers love and feels the need to protect it. There is also plenty of blood, and murder. Nothing is at it seems, either. When i started Talentless Nana, I was expecting your average hero anime; a My Hero Academia ripoff. But, at the end of the first episode, the creators had really thrown me for a loop... This is quite similar to how Happy Sugar Life played its tricks. These two animes are more similar, in many more ways then you'd think.

questionguy questionguy says...

ok now they both on the surface look nice however are dark

both the mcs are manipulative

Leahchu Leahchu says...

Both shows seem like they are going to be cute and wholesome but by the end of the 1st episode the tone shifts and they never look back. Our mc in each is full of dark motivations and they are constantly hiding their murderous intent from other people around them. Because they are so set in their goals, they cannot accept other people's help, so they struggle through setbacks all on their own. A lot of the cast in each are also mentally/emotionally/physically depraved so viewers will pretty much watch in awe and not in support of most characters.

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.

Both involve the world basically "randomly" getting superpowers, and people coping with it. The first scene is very similar to the first episode, in which Bakugou is bullying Deku. There characters are similar, ability wise and personality wise.

While the plots are not very similar, characters are very intelligent and analytical, throwing twist with their brains left and right, and invoking a similar emotion in the viewer when they've found out what they've done or have been outsmarted.

22ouncebitch 22ouncebitch says...

Both have a huge twist at the end of the first episode that disturbs and intrigues you, changing the whole course of the show.

Sailnir Sailnir says...

The Promised Neverland is similarly a story about ****SPOILERS****

Children who are trying to survive from being killed by someone who wants to murder them. Different however is how much we get to see them develop. Nana? No one is the least bit intelligent. No one responds to a friend's death almost at all. Even though the stakes are high they act like they are not. In Neverland, everyone is smart, everyone is profoundly affected by character deaths, everyone is trying.

Top it off, Nana is episodic and even though people are dying it doesn't matter because they were just introduced that episode. You can't make me care about someone I know you're killing off in 5 minutes. In Neverland, I want everyone to get out alive.

Danganronpa: The Animation

Danganronpa: The Animation

Hope’s Peak Private Academy is a super-exclusive institute that gathers the best and the brightest, provides them with a world-class education, and propels them into any career they wish. At least, that’s what the average student Naegi used to think. Having been accepted into a class of 15 students through a lottery system, the boy quickly comes to learn that Hope’s Peak is no ordinary school. In reality, he and the group find themselves trapped inside and learn that the only way to "graduate" is to murder a fellow student and fool everyone in a trial that determines life or death! Led by the whimsically-cruel, teddy-bear-like Monobear, Naegi and the others must do whatever it takes to escape this bizarre, deadly game.

Classroom of the Elite

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka has just enrolled at Tokyo Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, where it's said that 100% of students go on to college or find employment. But he ends up in Class 1-D, which is full of all the school's problem children. What's more, every month, the school awards students points with a cash value of 100,000 yen, and the classes employ a laissez-faire policy in which talking, sleeping, and even sabotage are permitted during class. But among all the students who lead such self-indulgent lives, there is one who disagrees with it all and chooses to remain solitary, avoiding contact with others: the beautiful Horikita Suzune. She has figured out that, even though the school gives students huge amounts of money, it also offers many means of "assistance for students with no money." One month later, Ayanokouji, Horikita, and the students of Class D learn the truth of the system in place within their school...

Epimondas Epimondas says...

Both stories about psychopathic murders who target children and in both cases the so called lead protagonist characters, aren't actually the good guy characters.  Both take place in small communities but higurashi has a much better setting and plot with better more developed characters who don't really get knocked off as quickly before say the characters are well fleshed out.  Both stories try to justify serial murder but hirugashi again wins because in that story it's more about consequences and action/reaction with some well placed misunderstandings to boot to create the would be tense atmosphere and motives.  The plot doesn't make much sense in either but hirugashi becomes clear later and Nana steamrolled over common sense perhaps to misdirect viewers from how poorly the plot was presented.

Sailnir Sailnir says...

Higurashi is better because we have characters we can care about and an intriguing mystery. Nana, the characters are as transient as flies.

They both have a traitour among them, both have a fantasy settings, and where the ''group'' has some kind of supperpower.

TempestAethel TempestAethel says...

Similarities:

  1. Mystery Element: Both series have a strong mystery element. In “Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers”, the characters are trying to figure out who the impostor is among the seven heroes, as only six were supposed to be chosen by the Goddess of Fate. Similarly, in “Talentless Nana”, the students are unaware that Nana Hiiragi, who claims to be a mind-reader, is actually a government assassin sent to eliminate them.
  2. Setting: Both series are set on isolated islands where the characters are cut off from the rest of the world.

Differences:

  1. Genre: “Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers” is an action, fantasy, and mystery series, while “Talentless Nana” is more of a psychological thriller and suspense series.
  2. Character Focus: In “Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers”, the story is told from the perspective of the group, and the identity of the impostor remains hidden. On the other hand, “Talentless Nana” focuses on the impostor.

Both have similar characters and a lot of killing.

Both the anime's characters have deep psychological issue due to some form of trauma.

Though Talentless Nana is less focused on romance and more focused on the characters goals.

Both have detective like characters that go against the psycho main girl.

Talentless Nana includes superpowers whereas Future Diary doesn't but is similar due to the phone abilities the characters have.

Kaeseolin Kaeseolin says...

These are both series about killing and murdering each other.

I think Nana Hiiragi is another mastermind, and she acts like Yuno Gasai that I compared both of them, they are kind of serial killers who take over people's minds.

If you liked both series, then this is it for you.
