Both movies are about feeling that changes the main character's life for good - love, which have a very particular, unbelievable way to join together the two that have been unconsciously longing for each other. These films are only for people, who are able to enjoy the thrilling atmosphere of happiness and sadness in the same time.

Both of these movies are very much romantic tragedies. Both of the female leads seem very much alone for different reasons. The male leads have similar moods, and temperments. There is a bit of the same generational feel to the story in how parents can effect their children. The music is excellent in both movies also for those who do listen for it.

Both the Air Movie and Clannad Movie have a very similar way of telling their adaption of the love-story, and present their drama in the same way. The colors, character design and animation are also strikingly similar in both cases. If for some reason you enjoyed one of these movies more than the original series, you'll definitely enjoy the other movie as well.

If you liked the Clannad Movie or the Air Movie then you will like the other. The story is very similar, the anime art itself has many great features- (in Clannad there is the alternate world that catches the eye and in Air there is the sea and the old-style story telling world that catches the eye.), and the fact that the main characters are very much alike is another plus. I just adore the similarity between Misuzu and Nagisa as well as the similarities between Tomoya and Yukito.

Both Air and Howl's Moving Castle deal with main characters who attempt to overcome a curse, and strive for a life filled with love. The main characters help each other out in any way they can, while trying to prevail over the destiny that has befallen them.

In Air Movie and Howl's Moving Castle, the male protagonists are presented as "heartless" in a sense that either they have no desire to or do not have the capacity to love. Also, both anime revolve around the idea that love does change people and that it does come hand in hand with sacrifice. Animation-wise, both have a similar overall feel which can be described as a dreamy, somewhat surreal atmosphere.

It's a similar story of an unlikely person falling in love with a person that is more of a loner than anything. It's a very good movie drawn by Miyazaki.

Both Hoshi no Koe and Air are remarkably tragic tales of the human heart. I know if you liked one, you'd like the other.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is a compelling drama about one man, and the choices he must make for love.

If grown up romance is your thing, KGnE and Air are definitely good choices. Though KGnE is very much like a soap opera and Air is very much just a damn good story with only two people, both will leave you wanting more - and more kleenex.

If you enjoyed the tragic romance of Air, you'd surely like one of the best tragedies of all time: Windaria. Unlike the single relationship element of Air, Windaria's tragedy is on a much larger scale that encompasses multiple couples and even entire towns. Though there's a great deal of time between each of these releases, I still think if you liked one you'd like the other.

Both the Air Movie and Beyond the Clouds combine a haunting story with absolutely stunning animation, resulting in a melancholy but still amazing viewing. Air is slightly more reminiscent of a dating sim (albeit a much, much better one) while Beyond the Clouds is trademark Makoto Shinkai in every way; regardless, I think if you liked one, you'd like the other.

The dramatic atmosphere presented in both Fruits Basket and the Air Movie is seen in how the main characters interact with one another. Both have sad parts throughout and deal with issues such as solitude and what cruel fate can bestow on someone. The main characters go through a journey of trials and tribulations trying to overcome what is destined for their futures and try to make their curses something more than a hindrance.

In both Air and Da Capo, relationship problems between the main characters are prevalent. In the Air Movie the main heroine, Misuzo, is a young girl with a naïve personality, while her hero, Yukito, is more serious and mature, with a multifaceted personality. In Da Capo, the two main characters were raised as siblings so there is a strain on their relationship.

Air Movie and Angel's Feather are dramas with psychological undertones. The ability of the characters to deal with the problem of a cursed past and a new understanding of life is reflected throughout both shows. The understanding of the characters' feelings is also clearly expressed in each. The angel is seen to be something to be feared, but the characters learn that there is much more to the curse and the people involved in it than meets the eye.

Princess Tutu

Princess Tutu

Once there lived an eccentric author called Drosselmeyer who wrote grand tragedies - one of them was the tale of a prince who sealed away an evil raven by breaking his own heart into tiny pieces. However, before the story could be completed, the author died and the tale took on a life of its own. Now, in a town where fiction and reality meet, the story continues on its tragic course with Ahiru, a duck who transforms into the beautiful Princess Tutu in order to restore the prince's heart. But will Ahiru's act of love be enough to defy the story's terrible destiny and lead to a happy ending?

What's great about Princess Tutu and Air Movie is that they are disguised as very shoujo and magical with the sweet female leads and mystical and legendary romances; but if you look deeper, there is an underlying theme of tragedy and unfairness that, although subtle, is very effective.

They also present a lot of life's ironies, like how acceptance of a tragic fate is more apparent in the person themselves than their loved ones, or how grim fates fall to the undeserving.

Both anime are dreamy, sad, and bittersweet; I think that you'd like one if you liked the other.
