Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Apr 5, 2017

Kyoto Animation have always been the pioneers of the Slice of Life genre, you need only look at how many people love the Haruhi Suzumiya or K-ON series to understand that. So when it comes to KyoAni making another Slice of Life show you know what to expect; a typical show sprinkled with cute goodness, but with something to make it stand out from all the rest. As one can tell from the title, this series stars a dragon; Tohru, who has decided to become a woman's - known solely as Kobayahi - maid. The first episode helps start their relationship off, showing you how Tohru came to meet Kobayashi and... See full review

ReLIFE

Jul 10, 2016

Every new season we anime fans are treated with countless slice of life shows; shows which do nothing more than make us watch other people living their life. These type of shows tend to attract a certain audience and also are hit or miss. Thankfully ReLIFE is a 13 episode hit. Story The story follows Arata Kaizaki, an unemployable 27 year old single man living off his parents money. After leaving his job three months after his graduation, Kaizaki's life never got any better and spiralled downwards. After going to another interview he was turned down, to make matters worse his mother calls him... See full review

Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare

Dec 30, 2013

Gekijouban Gintama Kanketsuhen: Yorozuya yo Ein Nare, or in a more pronounceable way, Gintama: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya, is the second Gintama movie released at this time, though with a subtitle being "The Final Chapter" it is widely presumed this is the ending to the Gintama anime. Is this right, or is the gorilla author trolling us again? Well, I'll get back to that later. Story The story of Be Forever Yorozuya is a typical plot that you'd expect from Gintama. It starts off with the Movie Thief (a walking robot with a camera for a head) about to film something playing in the... See full review

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

Nov 2, 2013

The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya (or The Disapperance of Haruhi Suzumiya, depending on the localisation) is the full length feature film of the Haruhi Suzumiya series, taken from the light novels. If you've never heard of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, you've probably been living under a rock. Now, I'm not ashamed to admit that I came into this film expecting something completely different to what I ended up with. In thought this was going to be a hilarious film, showing the antics that the members of the SOS Brigade... See full review

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)

Jul 21, 2013

Before I begin let me say that this is a review of season 2, the last 14 episodes essentially...well, I say 14... I was told about The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya by one of my good friends, who said that he hated it with a passion. Naturally, I wanted to watch it simply to annoy him...what I found was one of the best animes I've ever watched. So obviously, after I finished the first season, I wanted to watch the second one. I won't go into too much detail about the main story behind the whole show is, as it is all... See full review

Yuyushiki

Jul 3, 2013

Now, anyone that knows me personally knows that, depsite how much I try to resent it, I absoultely adore animes that follow a bunch of girls going about their days in highschool. It's not exactly the most manly thing in the world, but we're not hear to discuss my (negligible) masculinity, we're hear to review Yuyushiki. Now, straight off the bat I'll say this...this show follows the tried and tested forumula of every highschool "moe" anime. You've got the girls, you've got the highschool, you've got the random conversations, you've got the club activities, you've got the teacher that everyone... See full review

Pandora Hearts

Jun 23, 2013

I'll be the first to admit, when I heard about Pandora Hearts from one of my friends, I didn't expect myself to like and for one reason...it's got an over-arching story. For people that know me and my taste in anime, they will know that I love parody animes, ones which don't have a huge story, like Binbougami ga!, or animes which parody the fact that they don't have stories, such as Gintama. As such, the fact that I love Pandora Hearts as much as I do...it came as a shock to me, considering I originally only watched it to see one character! Pandora Hearts tells the tale of ... Fairy Tail

Mar 30, 2013

In recent years, I've become incredibly bored with the Shounen genre. Maybe it's all the movie and television studying I've done, meaning Shounen becomes very predictable, or maybe it's how long they go on for *cough*OnePiece*endcough* As you can tell by the score, Fairy Tail is different. Unlike animes such as One Piece, Naruto and Bleach, the story arcs in Fairy Tail don't last forever, in fact, in all 175 episodes, there's only 14 arcs (the 15th is still going, even in the manga), as such, story arcs do not feel like they are dragging out, which makes Fairy Tail much more accessible and, overall, a lot... Seitokai Yakuindomo

Mar 18, 2013

At the time of writing this, I have written three reviews on this website, all of them having one thing in common; they are all comedies. Seitokai Yakuindomo is no expection to this matter. When it comes to anime based around school life and the whole "moe" factor, I can't say I'm a huge fan of it. Yes, I enjoy watching both Lucky Star and K-On!, but they are the two expections to the matter...well, two of the three, I should say. I'll say this right now, Seitokai isn't an anime... Good Luck Girl!

Mar 7, 2013

What is there to say about this anime? Well...giving the fact that it's a review, I guess I should try and write something, otherwise there's no point in me doing this, now is there? Binbougami ga! is one of those animes which instantly grabbed my attention. I heard it was a parody anime and I knew I had to see it, after all Gintama is my favourite anime of all time. And that's something to point out, Binbougami ga! and Gintama share so many similarities; the humour, the references, the ability to change from humourous to heart-breaking in an... See full review

FLCL

Mar 5, 2013

FLCL (or Fooly Cooly, as it's pronounced) is one of those Marmite type of shows; you either love it, or you hate it. For someone like me, who loves watching (and writing) surreal comedies, this anime was listed very high on my 'to watch' list. Thankfuly, it didn't dissapoint. Straight of the bat, I will say this; if you don't like surrealist shows, this is not for you and most probably, won't change your opinions of them. It's very weird and I found it very difficult to understand the plot. In fact, it was only until I read what the plot was and what the show's deep meaning was trying to portray, on the...
