If you're looking for anime similar to The Asterisk War (2016), you might like these titles.
"Hundred" - the only weapon capable of fighting the Savages, mysterious life forms attacking Earth. Hayato enters the battleship university Little Garden in hopes of becoming a Slayer... but his roommate Emile Crossfode, who seems to know a lot about him for some reason, awakens a sort of unsettling nostalgia within him. If you like the school style back drop with a male lead and a female harem and some sweet action and comedic moments then you'll enjoy this one for sure
These two series are extremely similar in their respective motifs. Both involve a main character who goes to a combat-oriented academy for family reasons. Both protagonists are subtly overpowered and have limits on those powers. They feel like typical shounen/harem series but are entertaining nonetheless.
The year is 2095. Magic has been tamed as another form of technology, and the practice of magic is now a rigorous discipline. Brother and sister Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are just about to start their first year at the renowned First Magic High School of Japan. But the school's ironclad rules mean that the brilliant Miyuki enters the prestigious Course 1, while her older brother, Tatsuya, is relegated to Course 2--and that's just the beginning of their troubles!
Both anime are based around an academy with students that have a special power. for both they get ranked and the main character is a somewhat misterious guy with insane powers
They both are similar in protagonist being over powered, plot getting in complete and have no clue when next season will come
Ikki Kurogane may have come from a long line of Blazers, people with the ability to create weapons or devices manifested from their souls, but as far as the Hagun Academy is concerned, he's been a major disappointment in the magical powers department. He is so disappointing, in fact, that he's earned the unfortunate nickname of the "Worst One". However, things change for Ikki in the most surprising way when Princess Stella Vermillion, the most promising Rank-A Blazer to come along in many years, decides to transfer to Hagun. When she challenges him to a duel where the loser must obey the winner for the rest of their life, the last thing anyone expects is that the Worst One might prove to be a match for the Crimson Princess… and the unforeseen consequences will push the boundaries of society itself!

If you like the asterisk war then you will probably like this anime because they both have a bit of action and some parts of it had romance which is my personal fave type of anime romance with action!
Set in the world of Orario, where adventurers band together and look for treasures in an underground labyrinth known as Dungeon. However, for Bell Cranel, fame and riches are secondary to what he wants to find the most: girls. He soon finds out though, that anything can happen in Dungeon, and winds up being the damsel in distress instead!

Both of these cookie cutter anime are light hearted with harem qualities.
stupid hot chicks drooling over a dude who doesn't know what to do with himself... check.
Great animation with solid action... check
Uninspired story with skin deep chars... check
All in all, Girls in a dungeon is a more a coherent anime however both are very similar in style and progression.
