Saikano and Hanoka are remarkably similar; each involves a young girl who is being exploited due to her nature as a living weapon. Hanoka is considerably less graphically appealing and overall flat out sucks, while Sai Kano is gorgeous, but also sucks. Regardless, if you liked one, you might enjoy the other.

Amuri in Star Ocean

Amuri in Star Ocean

Eighteen years ago, the sun's radiation caused new types of children to be born with special abilities. Amuri Kakyoin is one of these "Adapters" with a very unhelpful trait: her body physically repulses anything that approaches her. Lonely and solemn, Amuri has drifted through life in solitude; but one day, when the spaceship she is traveling on is destroyed, Amuri's luck finally changes; bouncing back and forth between space debris, she finally bounces into Uterus, a medical recovery capsule, where she is joined by a quiet girl and her robotic bunny. Alongside her new Adapter companions, Amuri will help defend the enemy in the skies with her new ability-amplifying suit.

I thought Hanoka and at least the first episode of Amuri were utter garbage. Admittedly, Hanoka is a hell of a lot worse, but both have bad animation (Hanoka's is 100% flash, and Amuri's is bad enough to seem like flash), a weird story, some sort of weapon girl, and generally suck.

The ships' two living passengers are the only ones who know its whereabouts. URDA and Hanoka don't exactly share a very similar plot or the surroundings, URDA placing the events around WWII and Hanoka to sometime in future. What they have in common is their unique animation techniques. URDA is a 3D CG-producted ova and Hanoka is a short series made by using a flash-program. So if you're looking for something that entirely differs from the usual style, here you got two of those.
