I think Ao no Exorcist and Fairy tail are similar because they both focus on the importance of friendship, that if you want to achieve something you are not alone, you have your friends....and they're both very funny animes, if you like one I'm sure you'll like the other.

Blue Exorcist and Fairy Tail are refreshingly good shounen animes. Both have entertaining casts, fun powers, and a main character with a lot of strength (and very little strategy). Plus, there's something about these shows- the mood is very similar. If you like one, I think you'll like the other too.

MFM MFM says...

They kind of have the same "aura". Although different in their own way, you finish watching an episode of Blue Exorcist and Fairy Tail and the feeling you get is pretty much the same. They have a lot of action mixed with comedy. They are both about a guy with a some sort of power and the importance of friendship on overcoming the problems ahead. They are both very enjoyable and if you liked one, then you should at least give the other one a chance.

Fairy tail is much more of a regular comdey then the romance comedy/drama that Inuyasha falls under. While Inuyasha has a an over arching plot (gotta get those shards); Fairy tail so far keeps things too a 1-3 epsoide format. The characters are similar personality quirks as well.

Both are shonen anime series with a main character who's kindof a dolt, but is really strong and there for his friends when it counts. They also share a similar love triangle between the main male lead, the female lead, and his crush who has since died, but he is unable to forget about. The fight scenes are pretty epic, too, and both series place a strong emphasis on magic combat.

Both anime have character who'll goes to any length to protect their friends and family. The main characters in both anime are incredable strong and get stronger with each battle.  Both seem to have some hidden power locked inside and use that power to protect their friends. Although sometimes their battle seems impossible to win they manage to gather strength from their friends and win.

Both are fantastic Shonen anime with huge casts of colorful characters. Each focuses on the theme of constantly getting stronger and facing more and more challenging foes. If you like Fairy Tale, then this would be a natural alternative.  The protagonist displays special power and a extreme sense of naivity. While both animes show a great comedic timing, you will seldomly see boring moment since both have great doses of action.

If you liked the action and intense battles with some humor in Fairytail then you'll like Gintama as well. Not only does it have all these things but It's also a parody anime, meaning that you'll see a lot of references in it to other anime from the same time frame.

Both are set in a different world with fairy tale being set in a different universe entirely and log horizon being set inside a game.

both animes make great use of their characters and each of them has their own personality and strong lead protagonists, which both have a side which you'd probably not want to be on.

Both main characters (Seth and Natsu) remind me of each other. They have very similar personalities.

The main difference would be that Radiant is more serious. There's still a decent amount of comedy, but the conflict is more emphasized at times.

Smartredhead Smartredhead says...

similarities:

- Typical magical shonen adventure - a naive and optimistic male MC who aims to become more powerful and learns how to use his magic - said MC also has  secret super powerful magic that others consider dangerous - a crew of characters that congregate around said MC - an overarching quest and lots of fighting

differences:

- while in FT sorcerers/wizards are generally respected and even praised, in Radiant all sorcerers are considered tainted beings and hunted down by the authorities;

- also Radiant has (thankfully) no silly/awkward rom-com fanservice elements which FT has plenty
