Kids on the Slope

Nov 2, 2020

Sakamichi no Apollon is the type of anime I wish was the mainstream. It is beautifully crafted. No fan-service, no generic tropes. Just a beautiful story wrapped in gorgeous animation and sound. This review contains no spoilers. SOUND As this is an anime built around music, I believe it makes sense to begin this review looking into the sound department. And, boy!, it is good! Voice acting is great. Sound design is immersive. And the music is sublime. I'm writing this review listening to the OST, because I just can't get enough of it. I loved how their emotions showed through their music. Whenever... See full review

Demon Lord, Retry!

Sep 21, 2020

Demon Lord, Retry! is a mess of an anime. One of the worst I've ever seen. Story, characters, dialogue... they have no structure, no development, and are very confusing. At first, I had the impression that the producers had fired their writters. By episode 7 I was certain they never had a writter in the first place; it seemed they were creating the story on the fly. Nothing is explained in this show. How does the skill system work? How does politics work? How does item creation work? There are no rules. There is no consistency. Things happen just because. CHARACTERS & STORY Characters are so one... See full review

Knight's & Magic

Jun 10, 2020

I recently found out that I love bad anime. Those guilty pleasures like The Irregular at Magic High School, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Ascendance of a Bookworm, and Overlord. I mean... Sorry. Overlord is awesome. But you get the point. Those are weak stories that entertain, and I'm all into that. So when I watched the first two episodes of Knight's & Magic I was hyped. It was going to be exactly my type of anime. Except it was so bad at everything -including entertaining- that I didn't enjoy it at all. Here's why. (BEWARE! SPOILERS AHEAD) STORY The MC is an otaku that loves mecha. He... See full review

Akame ga Kill!

Mar 8, 2020

This anime had potential. But Akame Ga Kill! is actually pretty bad.
It's ok to enjoy it. If you loved it, or felt entertained, there's nothing wrong with it. But when we see it under the light of storytelling, narrative and character development, the show fails in every aspect. This review contains spoilers. First: The Plot The initial premise is good, and that's why I stated the show had potential. The main character is a good fighter who heads for the capital to make money for his village. His friends are murdered by sadistic nobles, and he then joins a group of assassins of the resistance. They... See full review

Domestic Girlfriend

Jul 5, 2019

For an anime about a boy who wants to become a novelist, Domestic Girlfriend committed a few sins on character development. Beware, total spoilers ahead. The premise is interesting: a teenager suffers from unrequited love for his teacher, tries to move on by having casual sex with a girl his age, only to find out that both girls are sibling and that they are going to live with him from now on. It creates a good tension. The fact that the MC's love is living with him makes it harder for him to move on, as now he shares intimacy with the woman; the same goes for the girl he had sex with, making his... See full review
