Sailor Moon is a really cute romance anime, with lots of funny moments and plenty of magic. Card Captor Sakura has the exact same things! Sakura's adventures and the trouble she usually finds herself in remind me a lot the situations in Sailor Moon. If you liked Sailor Moon then Card Captor Sakura is a MUST!

A nice sailor moon alternative. Better, much better, darker - more slayers-esque.

Both series deal with some nebulous evil mastermind sending bizarre baddie after baddie to be defeated in large part by the teamwork and love of the main characters.

Puni Puni Poemy

Puni Puni Poemy

Puni Puni Poemi is a spin-off of Excel Saga, the classic lampoon of all that is anime. It takes the daughter of two Excel Saga characters and puts her through parodies of shoujo, shounen, ecchi, hentai, and everything in-between. This eccentric show is the "Scary Movie" of anime: younger viewers need not apply.

This is in large part a spoof of Sailor Moon, though somewhat more adult. It has a somewhat wierd style of humor that you'll either love, or hate, but if you liked the Sailor Moon, you'll likely enjoy this spoof.

Both Sailor Moon R and Magic Users Club are typically shoujo, with a few silly comedy elements thrown in. Both involve the use of magic; there's also some kind of battle in the end. The main reason I thought of Magic Users Club when I viewed Sailor Moon R is the use of the large tree (a tree?), but I realized there are a lot of other things such as the constant daydreaming of the main characters, and how the characters interact. Magic Users Club puts more effort into comedy, and there some small pervy jokes here and there.

Fate/stay night

Fate/stay night

The Holy Grail War is a battle between seven magicians who each summon a mythical hero to fight for their cause. Shirou, a twice orphaned high school boy, had so little magical talent that his foster father did not bother teaching him about the war and its meaning. Thanks to that lack of foresight, Shirou finds himself in a bit of a pinch when he accidentally summons a hero of the strongest class, and is sucked into the fray. The Grail grants the winner any wish they have. But driven by an unyielding sense of justice and self-sacrifice, for what will Shirou fight?

Sailor Moon and Fate Stay Night both have similarities to them in the fact that main characters share a lot of similar personality traits. Although it is a Given that Saber from Fate Stay Night is a stronger character over all than Serena from Sailor Moon who is more of a whiny character and relies on people a great deal more than Saber does.

With a long drawn out transformation spectacle the characters strive for the dramatic in both Guardian Hearts and Sailor Moon. The transformations are not their only similarity there is also the comedic fact of the absurdness the girls exude. Guardian Hearts does have a great deal more ecchi whereas Sailor Moon is more on the innocent side of life.
