While I enjoyed Phantom quite a bit more, both have very similar ideas to them involving people taken against their will to assassinate. Gunslinger Girl definitely is on a different level because of children, while Phantom ends up being somewhat of a love story as well. Regardless, both are dark and interesting.

Both shows have the main character being a girl who is an assassin and a guy character who assists them. The girls are controled by other in both shows. In gun slinger girl the girls work for the government while in Phantom they work for a criminal organization.

Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

For Kouta and Yuka, finding the bloody naked young girl on the beach would change their lives forever, for better or for worse. Unable to speak or function as a normal human being, she is named Nyu by the duo, and taken into their home in an effort to save her. But what neither teenager knows is that this innocent young girl is actually a killing machine -- an experiment gone terribly wrong -- and it is only a matter of time before the murderer in her awakens again...

Elfen Lied and Phantom both are dark and messed up, with creepy undertones. While this recommendation might not be perfect, I do think if you liked one, you'd like the other.

At first glance, these two look almost completely different, except for maybe some of the genres. Elfen Lied is for one, 13 episodes, while Phantom is just an OVA of 3 episodes. As one would expect, Elfen Lied has a lot of things that Phantom just doesn't have, such as character development. I enjoyed Elfen Lied thoroughly, and I'm sure I would have enjoyed Phantom more if it was longer. The similarities do start with the genre. If you like either, the other can be something like an encore, with more gore, action, and touch of romance.

These both have solid assassin killing with many little tricks and moves that will blow your mind; though all are on a realistic level. The them of a pair of killers and the darkness surrounding them is just too good to resist.

What if you woke up with no memory of who you were? What if you now find yourself on the road to becoming a top assassin? With someone in the background pulling strings, and your life on the line, how far do you go? Both series deal with a pair of assassins working as partners. Can they pull together to survive? Or will growing closer only cause them problems? If you liked one series, take the time to check out the other.

Both anime are about assasins and both future similar concepts like brain washing. Well both of those shows are rather low quality (on all layers), but if you liked one of them, then the other one would probably entertain you as well.

Interlude

Interlude

In Japan, there is a disturbing rumor being spread that people's shadows are ripping from their bodies, never to be seen again. For one young man, the frightening nature of this rumor is just beginning to manifest in the form of a nightmarish world that he can't seem to escape from. In this place full of dark minions and demons, he and his friends fight futilely against unknown enemies, only to be brought back to the "real world" as quickly as they left it. Is this real, or a dream? Only one person holds the key to destroying and saving the world as he knows it...

It's hard to say why I feel these two should be recommended for each other. Is it the darkness of the animation? The moving plot? The romance of sorts? Who knows, I just think you'd like this. Trust me, just check it out.

Both about heroes which are unstoppable killing machines, and both are OVA's too so short and sweet yet well written and of a high quality. Though our killing machines also have love interests of sorts. Makes everything that more interesting
