Wanted to add some titles that aren't currently on your list. Check these out to see if any seem of interest:

\r\n

Wolf Children - surprising anime movie that was much better than I thought it was going to be

\r\n

Hotarubi no Mori e - one of my favorite anime movies

\r\n

Eve no Jikan Movie  - tale of robots and exploration of robot feelings. See the movie instead of the series, because the movie IS the series essentially but has additional footage that adds extra value to the story

\r\n

Barakamon - a relaxing SOL jewel from last season's anime

\r\n

Love Stage!! - can you handle a little yaoi?  Yes, it's boys love, but it really is a cute romance story!  Just, there are a lot of guys that get squigged out by any mention of yaoi, and if you are one of them, then this is not for you.

\r\n

I'll stop for now in case I just totally inadvertently messed you up...

K, took a quickie look at your Anime List to see if there are any fast recommendations I can make for you.

\r\n

Brief comments from your Want to Watch List:

\r\n

5 Centimeters per Second - realize that this isn't so much about a romance/relationship as it is about the DYNAMICS of a relationship; specifically the effects of time and distance on a relationship, and NOT about the romance itself... the characterizations are mere shells; vehicles to explore the relationship dynamics only...

\r\n

Blood+ First anime that I saw that had a decently resolved ending rather than ambiguous, vague, amorphous, open-to-interpretation Japanese style ending.  It's the first anime I made my sister watch with me...

\r\n

Ergo Proxy - dark and somewhat depressing, I watched this with one of my anime clubs and at the end was all HUH? What did I just see?  But thought it interesting enough that I purchased it to own and view when I wanted (as opposed to just streaming it to see it again).

\r\n

FLCL - worth it just to hear the awesome pillows songs! One of my favorite j-groups!  And it is only 6 episodes long, so it won't take up much of your time.  Even if you don't quite get it all by the end! LOL

\r\n

Grave of the Fireflies - you know it's gonna be sad, right? The subject matter, the title.  The opening line of the anime is 'On the night of September 21st, 1945, I died.'  Still, dispite shameless and endless emotional manipulation, this anime really does succeed.

\r\n

Kino's Journey - kind of like Mushishi in that it is episodic in nature and more relaxed pace in its storytelling. I enjoyed.

\r\n

Nodame Cantabile - this quirky romance has an AWESOMELY GORGEOUS classical music soundtrack. I liked the first season better than the following seasons, but a couple of friends who I persuaded to watch with me disagree - they actually thought the later seasons just as good as opening season. Me, I think it would be fine to just end it there since to me, nothing significant was added later.

\r\n

Seirei no Moribito -  Gorgeous animation and a decent story as well. And it doesn't hurt that I love the Season's Call 1st OP theme song...

\r\n

Spirited Away - probably my favorite of the Ghibli movies. But, you can't really go by my tastes, as I swim counter to popular opinion on these movies (for instance, I didn't really like Princess Mononoke)

\r\n

Trigun - I tend to recommend this to everyone, cause it is a nice blend of comedy/adventure with an underlying serious story. And it has the loveable goofball hero Vash the Stampede! One of my 4.5 star titles.

\r\n

Welcome to the NHK! - I didn't actually like this title. Maybe because I'd heard so much for so long and by the time I got to finally see it, it was disappointing to me, so that made me dislike it even more.

\r\n

There are a lot of other titles on your list where I'm still watching/not completed so I will hold off on commenting on them for now.

Mushishi - you are right, I prolly don't NEED to rewatch this to get caught up. But I remember really enjoying these episodes, so I -want- to do a rewatch! *grin*  Just gotta find the time...

Clannad Afterstory - am still in progress on it, although progressing slowly.  It's good to hear that it just gets better as it goes along. I'm enjoying so far, but admit that I thought it was interesting but not worth all the hype I'd heard.  I was feeling that it was immensely overrated, but I'll perservere in watching and maybe get a bigger reward at the ending than I've been expecting based on the first episodes I've viewed.

Serial Experiments Lain - I'm now intrigued with this title.  Although the comparisons to Evangelion are a bit offputting to me, since I didn't really enjoy NGE.  But it wasn't because of the intricacies of the story (I tend to prefer my anime a bit more complex, actually) but instead, the philosophizing that I disliked so intensely. I also am no fan of ambiguity.  NGE reeked of philosophical musings and didn't care to resolve everything tidily.  If this is the aspect of SEL that matches NGE, then you are correct that I probably wouldn't enjoy the title.  If it is just a complex and multi-layered serious storyline that it shares in common with NGE, then I may actually really enjoy SEL.

Anime clubs are great fun!  Around here, a group of approx 20 people (sometimes more sometimes less, been as few as 5 or 10 of us and as many as 50) gather in a big room with chairs (sometimes sofas too!) and a large screen and watch anime beginning in the morning and ending in the evening. Lots of times, the club participates in a dedicated venue - one meets in its own clubhouse - with its own BBQ area we utilize!, and another rents an entire lodge for our anime meetups.  Sometimes, it's just at someone's house.  There's usually a snack table, and people talk amongst themselves discussing the anime in progress or what they've just seen.  Sometimes, folks bring anime they want to share, but usually the club "leader" is the one that decides the schedule and what anime is shown for the day.

Sometimes, the snack table has meals not just snacks, and depending on the club, lunch is either: provided or brought along individually - homemade bento box meals are popular!, we make do with the snack table or leave and return to get meal, or there is a scheduled lunch break period.

I love watching anime with an anime club. Upside is the camaraderie and exposure to a lot of different titles, including things you've never heard of and/or would never have found/viewed on your own. Upside is discussing anime and anime related things, sharing finds and exposure to the various facets of the culture.  (For instance, we've had several Little Tokyo shopping trips and eaten at various Japanese eatery establishments together.) The downside is that it takes a long time to watch entire series since only one or two episodes of each series is shown at each meeting, and the meetings are only once per month.  It is so worth it for the friends one makes, as well. As a group, we've done non-anime related stuff as well: trips to paintball, mini-golf, beach, etc.

dantesmonsters says... If you've got suggestions, then I would be pleased to listen them! On a side note - I only JUST noticed that you have currently over 100s watching animes. How, XD? My limit is three watching series. If I watched more than three at once I noticed that I end up not enjoying them as much as I would have normally.

\r\n

I will be pleased to offer suggestions to you periodically!

\r\n

As for my anime in progress, I'll explain:

\r\n

I don't really find a lot of time to watch anime, so quite a bit of the anime I watch is with friends, or with anime clubs (which the members are also now friends!) and this helps inspire me to continue seeing/viewing episodes of anime I might otherwise have dropped or to start watching things I otherwise would not have even looked at.

\r\n

My friends have differing schedules, so my viewing with them is limited to the times THEY can find the time to watch... so any series I'm watching with a friend is often in progress quite a while due to the fact that we have to find the times our schedules can coincide.  My anime clubs meet once a month for an entire day, so we tend to watch a LOT of anime, but only one or two episodes at a time of each series. So it can take a while to complete one entire series. In the meantime, I have all these titles listed as "in progress"  aka Watching in my Anime List. I belong to three different RL anime clubs.

\r\n

I also belong to several a-p site clubs where we view anime, and some of these are of the two episodes a day variety, so more "in progress" titles while I am watching them.

\r\n

It's a good thing I have a good memory to keep track of these!  (This site is invaluable to me to help me keep note of the episode numbers!) But every now and then, I don't remember something as clearly as I'd like and then that means I have to rewatch something before proceeding.  So I do a number of rewatches to refresh my memory.  But considering all the anime I'm in progress on, luckily this is only a small percentage.  Still, I do quite a few rewatches compared to others... both of individual episodes and entire series...
