I do agree that a lot of characters on my list are quite feisty, but I also think that most of these characters offer a certain type of role on a show that makes the rest of the cast way more interesting. Without these type of characters, most shows would be a lot less interesting.
Instigators, but not only for pushing a plot along. When these characters do something, it doesn't come out of thin air. It's like a controlled chaos.
I do think that a lot of authors struggle to make these type of characters work.
