Higurashi: When They Cry - Gou

Sep 5, 2022

I really enjoyed this continuation of the Higurashi series and thought that it had some interesting changes to the story that I wasn't entirely expecting. There's a few more things explained and I am so attached to this anime after watching it for so long that at this point its sort of hard to see any of it as bad or whatever people seem to be saying. I just enjoy the world of Higurashi now and am invested in all the characters. I didn't think anything done in this series was particularly out of line with the timeline or plot we've come to know. I enjoyed it and am currently enjoying Sotsu (sequel).

Big Wars

Feb 8, 2022

Big Wars does not fail to deliver on the fact that there is a sizable war. The main character, the captain who's name I still don't remember, is a husk of a man with little to no emotions other than a slight smile and occasional shock. The only thing this man seems to care about is the Aoba. I don't even know what else to say about this movie, nothing of particular interest happens and there's really weird scenes that don't get explained. The Gods are the name of this alien race they're fighting against and they're not really talked about in any way other than that we know they're the enemy and the can... See full review

Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro

Sep 17, 2021

If you like cute, lighthearted anime with a fun story and an innocent juvenile romance then this anime is for you! The animation is very clean and nice, nothing special but a very attractive style and the way they animate Nagatoro is super cute and the colour combo of her hair and eyes is a very nice styalistic choice. It was nice to see a different personality for a love interest, Nagatoro is not a stereotypical quite girl who's a loner and sits gazing out the window in class, she's excitable and sporty and headstrong and honestly it's really refreshing! The main male protagonist is okay, he's a bit... See full review

Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess

Aug 13, 2021

Firstly, can I just say it was really difficult to find anywhere to watch this anime which is why I suppose I'm the only one so far to write a review on it for this site. The version I had to watch was in unfortunately low quality which was a shame because I couldn't see all the gorgeous animation despite knowing it was there.  Aside from that, I thought it was brilliant.  As a short film from Studio Ghibli you already expect the music, animation and creativity to be above and beyond your average anime and as a short film it really hits each of those on the mark. It's packed full of... See full review

Chainsaw Maid

Jul 24, 2020

This isn't supposed to be a classic anime. I saw alot of people here thinking it's trying to be some amazing high quality anime? I'd say this for most clay animation videos, they're very niche and usually only watched by people who are interested in the art style or already love stop motion animation. They're usually made because people enjoy the creativity, fun and the humour that goes into them. I wouldn't consider them fitting the typical anime category, it's nice to see them circulating a little bit more but it's hard not to get frustrated when it gets ratings so low. People seem to... See full review

Aggretsuko

I seriously enjoyed this. I watched it with my 10 year old sister who also enjoyed it a lot. I found it hilarious and very entertaining. The simplistic animation works so well with the comedy and I laughed out loud a LOT. This anime also incorporates the real stresses of everyday life for an office worker, something anyone with a boring day-in-day-out job can probably relate to (almost depressingly so) and actually laugh at. Overall an 8/10 for making me laugh and giving me a nice smooth plotline to sit back and enjoy.

Junji Ito "Collection"

Feb 23, 2018

I've read Junji Ito's manga before and the artwork in is so God damn good, it creates that heavy atmosphere like somone has a hand to your throat and it does creepy and horror like nothing else. This falls short of that by a hundred million miles and is really just kind of laughable in comparison. Because the animation quality is so poor it completely makes a mockery of what was originally a creepy and chilling story, so while I would normally give any Junji Ito story a 10, the anime deserves not much more than a 5 for the way the stories were presented. What I was hoping would come from the anime... See full review

Kakegurui

Feb 9, 2018

I've read the manga as well and I found the anime just as enjoyable. I have read most of the reviews here and I've noticed that many people are being quite critical about the characters. I can't disagree with some of the opinions on them, the characters have no extreme depth and the only thing really giving them anything is the insanity surrounding their lust for gambling or winning. Due to the obvious fact that this anime is entirely based around gambling, I can't say I'm really disappointed with that. I personally thought that the insanity helped this anime, I have no other card or gambling based anime... See full review
