Silently telling the tales of many myths involving transformation, a boy called Wondermaker moves through realms of imagination. He becomes Actaeon, a hunter who peeks at the bathing goddess Diana. Then, as Orpheus, he descends into Hades to retrieve his wife Eurydice. He courts a girl named Perce as the swift god Mercury, and as Perseus he is sent to slay Medusa – a creature who turns all who look at her into stone. Finally, Wondermaker becomes Phaeton, the son of the sun god, who seeks to steal his father’s chariot in order to fly.

One day while walking home, Sho Fukamachi stumbles across a metal object that has fallen from the sky; but while trying to throw it away, he inadvertently activates it and becomes fused with the biogenetic creature known as Guyver! Other biogenetic creatures called Zoanoids, from the company Chronos, immediately confront him; but they are no match for the power of Guyver. Chronos, in order to recapture the Guyver and complete their quest for world domination, kidnaps Sho's girlfriend Mizuki and kills some of his fellow classmates to send Sho a message. Now Sho must fight against Chronos not only to save Mizuki, but to save the world!

Sharaku is a descendant of an ancient race of three eyed humans who once ruled the world in the old days with superior technology and intelligence. Sharaku is very intelligent, but also very evil. If his third eye is covered, he becomes a very likeable, nice, clueless little kid. Wato is the daughter of a local priest and is in love with the evil, powerful side of Sharaku. The evil Sharaku is in love with her and acts as her protector, but when his third eye is covered, Wato has to protect him and act as his mother.

It is the 31st century, and mankind has taken to exploring the stars. Ulysses, captain of the spaceship Odysseus, takes his son Telemachus on a space journey for his 12th birthday. When the children onboard the ship are kidnapped by an alien race to be sacrificed to a giant Cyclops, Ulysses rescues his son and in turn angers the Gods. His interference is punished severely – his entire crew are left frozen in stasis, and his ship’s computer, Shirka, has her memory erased so she can no longer plan a route back to Earth. Cast into the depths of space, Zeus commands Ulysses to find the realm of Hades before being allowed to journey back home. Along the way, the scant crew meet travellers who have felt the wrath of the Gods, and others who have been commanded to impede or even kill those onboard the Odysseus. Will Ulysses ever make it home, or do the Gods have a much more twisted plan in mind for the space explorer?
