Volume 1 thoughts The story is heading in a very fascinating direction. Already I see sprinkles of ideas I really like and that will likely be explored more later - trying to fix things on a grander societal level instead of punishing specific people, the systemic racism against "unhumans" as they're called, and such things. It is a bit exposition-heavy and many of these ideas are not introduced in a very natural way, but I don't think it's a big issue. It's a good first volume to get interested in future themes, ideas, and characters. The art is gorgeous. Very elegant and cute. The eyes are very round and sparkly and beautiful. Character designs are very cutesy as everyone is very young. The characters are sweet and lovable. Mio is a great main character, because though she has suffered abuse her entire life she remains hopeful. Trauma responce can be a good story when it focuses on it, but this plot tackles a different thing. So Mio being strongly against hiding her true nature, curious, and quick to learn makes her a fun protagonist. Though she was sheltered, she is not a helpless, clueless girl at all. The tutor Yuri is also headstrong about his pro-unhuman beliefs which is nice.
