As is the case for many Junji Ito oneshots, many of these ones struggle from having interesting ideas with a slightly lackluster execution. Sometimes all that they would've needed to be improved would've been slight tweaks, but often they have too much contrivance with the plots and/or weak characters. Ito relies a lot on the intrigue of the unexplained and on cool aesthetics for appeal. There's a story about a girl transforming into a slug, a story about a gross deep-sea creature and what its eaten, a story about a moldy house, a body-horror story with gaping holes and a curse, a story about a hellish hot springs inn, a story about germophobes and a person squeezed into a drainpipe, and a story about eating weird foods and psychopathic behavior. * * * For reference, here are links to my reviews on the individual oneshots: Namekuji Shoujo (3/10) Hyouchaku Mono (4/10) Kabi (3/10) Kanki (7/10) Ryokan (5/10) Umeku Haisuikan (4/10) Bio House (4/10)
