It was confusing at first. Like why did he suddenly appear in a fantasy world and why was he able to rewind time and why is it only to a certain checkpoint? I thought the mysteries may be solved later on, but I was wrong. Re:Zero is basically about this mc that basically tries his hardest to survive in a fantasy world where he dies multiple times and time rewinds each time he dies.

To be honest, I was expecting much more from this anime because it's popular and it had great reviews, but after actually watching it, I was very disappointed. Aside from the animation and the characters, the plot was a letdown. I got dead bored while watching this anime as the mc continues to rewind time and I continue to see the same events happen over and over again. Nothing is worse than to have to rewatch the same lame scenes over again just to watch them over again, again. If there where fewer rewinds maybe I would've endured it, but I couldn't; I dropped it.

I agree with one of the reviews wholeheartedly; it's that the mc seems to progress in one episode, but later on the story seems to be going backward instead. It's like the story is getting along but then had to reset/rewind. It's very frustrating to see the character die each time then rewinding and then dying again. There doesn't seem to be any point in continuing to watch it. The character lives, dies, rewinds, dies, rewinds, lives, then dies and then rewind. It doesn't stop and I know for sure that I didn't want to see anymore.

You'll see good reviews and bad reviews, long reviews and short reviews.

But you should stop wasting time on them and just watch the show.

Re:zero has its faults, and episode 14-17 take a bad turn, but the show explains why it went there, and builds on the said dip to come back stronger than ever.

The story is quite good. The setting and the "presentation" of the story is really what this anime is all about. It will keep you wondering "what's gonna happen know!". It is a bit funny, can be quite dark at some points, a little peachy, but overall a good story. It could be a GREAT story if it wasn't for the lame ending. The last 10 minutes of the story will dissapoint you.

For the first ten or so episodes i fell in love with this show. The main character was relatable and realistic not your typical "dropped into another world with god-like powers and inhuman intelligence". He was so much more human than most other mc's in anime. He made mistakes but he learned from them and slowly progressed through his ordeals figuring out what to do through trial and error, he may have been dense but not hopelessly so. Not to mention all the other characters were well fleshed out and just enjoyable in general (with the exception of the duke his voice was aggravating from the get go). (spoilers ahead) then it happened... around a dozen or so episodes in the main character's personality took a complete 180. He made a complete fool of himself and it was one of the most painful things ive ever had to watch honestly i hoped he would die so he could use the whole return by death thing to fix it but that wasn't the case he then proceeded to get his ass handed to him in a mock battle with wooden swords so bad that it made me cringe once again it was so pathetic it felt like the writers had decided they hated the character and wanted to shame him as much as physically possible. But the fun doesnt end there, the part that pissed me off the most was when he got possessed by some complete scumbag and ruined things with the girl he loved, (he wasnt actually possessed it was just so out of character it felt like he was) the only reason i kept watching was that i hoped he would just die and repeat and fix everything and i could just forget about the entire horror show i had just witnessed, after some more time and some more displays of pathetic ineptitude and jackassery he finally dies but it doesnt take him back far enough to fix what hes done and only leaves him enough time to make a fool of himself more before dieing again, and again and again and again until finally when we see Amelia die in front of him and after watching rem die in the most torturous manner possible once then die again by a whale and somehow stop existing i just couldnt subject myself to it any further i stopped on episode 18/25 because i didnt see any point in watching further there was no fixing what had happened and after reading other people's reviews im convinced i made the right choice. I gave it a 5/10 because the beginning had so much potential and was so good i believe it would be an injustice not to at least give it that but everything that i saw after was horrific in more ways than one im really disappointed in how this turned out. Anyway whether or not you watch is your call, i just figured you should know what you're getting yourself into. update: I sucked it up and finished it out of respect for the show and how good i knew it could be and im very glad i did, i was pissed about what the writers did but after watching the rest of the way through i understand it, they made him alittle too human he messed really bad  worse than i ever imagined possible and honestly it made me depressed i was so disappointed in the MC it felt like i knew him personally. Looking back thats only because how attached i was to the character im ashamed to say i fell for the writers bait hook line and sinker it got so gloomy i was disheartened and i didnt think i could continue but i pushed on and just as quickly as it all went to hell he brought it back. The MC worked himself to the bone correcting his mistakes and in the process became an even better person than he was in the beginning i still feel bad for rem but the ending with the mc and his girl was enough to make a grown man cry im glad i finished the anime. For those of you who cant handle a dark and gloomy anime either dont watch or at lest skip the middle it was beyond depressing ive never had an anime make me feel such dispair and i cant say its an emotion i enjoy. In the end though it makes it all so much better if you can stomach it i recommend you push your way through it's one of the better anime ive seen. (Also the duke's voice is still incredibly aggravating)

Great show. Amazing take on Isekai, gripping, thrilling anime, seriously engaging the viewer. A lot of plot spikes seriosuly messing up the emotional response.

Plethora of great side characters, ones with actual character development too. We get a lot of Subaru's mindset, and hes portrayed very deeply. The anime does a great job with showing and not telling, and it does tell, it sweeps people off their feet. The main problem with the show I and many people have, is the lack of screen time Emilia, the supposedly main girl, gets. But it cant be helped because of a) the source material b) limited time on the production.

This lack of time also reflects on the pacing of the last few episodes.

Great character designs and animation (just up until the last two episodes).

Voice acting was amazing. Subaru was great, the range of Puck was superb, and Beetlejuice is in a league of his own.

And finally, a very disappointing ending. One of the most important plot points stays unresolved, instead we get a weak final-final battle with a great villain (Beetlejuice) and a race with time, and a love confession. With no hints or follow ups for the next season etc. Perhaps if it was a 50 minute episode, like the first two were, it'd be much better, but afaik it would need at least 3 more episodes to make a proper ending.

Basically, Re:Zero is a great ride to a disappoiting ending that suffers from limited time and, probably towards the end, funds. It is still completely worth watching, just for the first two arcs and the amount of suffering we get to witness (and partake it). I do recommend watching it.
