I see a lot of hate in the reviews so I decided to leave my opinion on here as well.

Re:Zero is about a boy who does nothing, just chills at home (probably went to school?), plays video games, works out now and then. He goes to a store to buy some yum yum snacks and is suddenly teleported into a fantasy world where everytime he dies he comes back at a checkpoint that moves depending on his progress.

Now why is our main character, Subaru, suddenly teleported to another world? And have infinite lives? Well my friends we can all analyze the information given to us till the very end of the show to determine that Satella has brought him here and given him this ability. But why? What purpose does it serve? How is this serving Satella? And why is Subaru called Pride at the end of the show?

These are all questions we don't get answers to and I can only pray for a season two to bless me with its radiance. Honestly the hold of suspense in this show is one of its stunning factors that really kept me captivated. Each episode became increasingly more painful to watch till about episode 18 I think it was and even then you're still on edge. Think about it. An anime where you know he'll come back every time and your stomach still knots up and you want to bite your nails. Amazingly done really.

I loved this anime, its one of my favorites. I just can't give it a perfect score though as there are so many unanswered questions. I need moaarrrrr.

Also Ferris...ugh so dumb.

Anywho, the characters in this show do so much justice and bring this vibrancy and perspectives to the show that I just LOVE IT SO MUCH. Rem, ah Rem. There's a character that I came into this show having heard about and was confused on why she was liked so much when I first saw her. She was like this unoriginal background character at first that blossomed so freaking much and I just want to best for her. I know Subaru and Emilia will be together (tear) and honestly I put tear but I do like Emilia. She's a beautiful and adorable character that has this resolution that's really admirable. But we just don't see enough of her in season one and thus Rem. REM <3. I honestly love just about all the characters. Even Ferris at the end there when he teared up for Subaru. It made me like him just a bit.

Even if he is dumb.

Last note, people need to stop being so hard on Subaru for going a insane there for a while. You die mutiple times in a future that seems to have no hope. You feel that pain, uselessness, suffering, and keep your cool the entire time. You better not waver or stumble. You better be a PERFECT MC.

I don't blame him. Was it annoying? Yes. Did I wish he'd just snap out of it? Of course. But it was realistic and its just another thing I love that they did in this show.

So for me personally. This show was amazing and I'd suggest it to everyone.

Above-average story with the most horrible main character possible, an 18-year-old dude gets transported to a new world and ends up with the personality, intelligence, and emotions of a pervy 6-year-old. Half the time he was either a face and personality of a stalker or insane. If I am mistaken took him 4 lives to realize that he keeps getting teleported to the same place after each death and even more lives than that he is a loop, and the only real character development happened in the last episode. Anime become less than average because of the main character.

I rate on a bell curve - a 5 out of 10 as "average"

You'll realize very early on that this is not a typical hero in another world story. It's gritty, reasonably intelligence, and surreal -  to the point where it was hard to follow at times. At the beginning, it was a refreshing change from the exhausted formula. However, it got old by about the 10th episode.

I have nicknamed the lead character "Sir ICryALot" because that is literally what 3/4 of the later episodes seem to feature endlessly. The story keeps hitting him with a baseball bat, and rather than having him overcome the challenge and hit a home run, it just keeps hitting him over and over... and he just keeps crying and crying. It's not fun to watch. It was tough powering through it.

The plot is glacially slow, partly by design due to a core story mechanic that by definition prevents progression (I don't want to spoil it). Nothing really happens and very little is explained until about episode 20... yes, 20. We just get horror, drama, and a crying protagonist with serious mental health issues.

The plot picks up around eps 20, but it feels rushed, particularly after the previous 10 or so episodes of pure boredom, with a few fight scenes needlessly drawn out.

One thing of note - the voice acting was top notch. They managed to find a poor guy who probably destroyed his throat thanks to all the crying and screaming he had to do. The person playing the main villian in particular deserves serious praise for his role; some of the best I've seen in anime.

Overall, I cannot figure out how this got such good reviews. Its best feature is that it breaks away from the exhaustive, eye rolling, person-in-another-life trope we have seen the last few years. They really tried to take it somewhere different which I do applaud. However, between huge pacing issues, an unbelievable annoying protaganist, and poorly flushed out secondary characters, it just doesn't hit the mark. I've seen worse animes, but not many.
