A fairly average anime. Disappointing because P.A. Works has a lot of very good shows. (Similar to studio Ghibli releasing Tales from Earthsea.)  It is a coming-of-age show with an emphasis on first-love, morality, friendship, and family. The idea behind the show was very interesting, however the plot was not. They had this great idea, then wasted it with a very bland plot and characters. The characters, excluding Chisaki, were completely mashed out of an average mold. There is a very high budgeted animation cost. It looks beautiful, but is just an average, sometimes boring, coming-of-age show.

P.A. Works put an advertisment, a poster, of this show in another of their shows Kuromukuro.

Let's start with the story. I was holding back on this when I was younger, but I'm glad I watched this. If it weren't for my friend who recommended this to me, then I wouldn't of watched it. 😅 From the very first episode I knew it was going to be full of love triangles etc.

See what I mean? Very complicated! At least it gives you a bunch of shipping options. This is only at the start though. Towards the end it neatens up a bit.

The start of the series starts off giving us a very 'slice of life' feel then moves on to a compilation of scenes with the MC's and side characters relationships. It was very unique how they put sides of different worlds in there. Which means that you need to watch every episode to acutally understand what's going on in the story. My Mum was so confused on why there was a floating fish in the air, and I was having a hard time explaining that they were in the water. 😂

Animation

Yes the animation is wonderful! Especially how they drawn the sea and scenery.

Characters

I didn't find myself attached to any of these characters. Probably because they put so much love interests in there. Like a lot! Which was a bit overwhelming for me to choose. But nonetheless, they still make wonderful characters.

Im not going to lie at all because this anime grabbed me in the first 5 min the whole series was amazing from start to finish and pretty much it shows how people start accept different people it’s almost like what we keep fighting with today and it shows you that people are kind of you talk to them get to know them instead of making assumptions and then with how the story unfolds is amazing this is one out of meny anime’s that has a real life battle that this world is faceing and this one is a good one to show how to accept one another in our society.

This show was truly something else... it's kind of like a slow burn but with a good ending. When I first started watching it I thought I knew exactly what was gonna happen, but as it progressed I stopped being able to guess what was gonna happen and I loved that. Although, at some points I felt like dropping the show cause it stopped being interesting, but I'm really glad I stocked to it and finished it. It definitely made me shed some... well many years but I really enjoyed how it gave every character a life while still focusing them in the main story. And the art was just amazing which made it more enjoyable. I would totally recommend it if you want to see a love story/ a slice of life with an overall fantasy plot :)

This anime had me tearing up and loving one of the side characters who didn't get as much love. It's an anime about humans and sub humans who live under water. They breathe underwater but can also be on land. It doesn't make them look any different than the humans but it still put a huge rift over something that happened a long time ago.

The story is about four kids from under the sea and a human boy going to school. The slice of life aspect of it is sweet and entertaining. It's a typical anime in that genre. However, the whole living under the sea makes it different. The main girl (the red head) falls in love with the human boy the instant she sees him. The romance is typical as well in it for the most part but towards the end it takes a lovely twist that you don't really expect.

The anime is emotional and pulls on your heart strings. The characters don't really stand out too much but together they are all so lovely. The story is rich and one could easily get lost in the world. The animation is beautiful though they do look a bit too childish for high school kids, it's a style the animators and manga picked. The backgrounds and scenery's are honestly the most beautiful things other than the story in the anime. I found myself staring at the surroundings sometimes more than the actual characters.

Overall is a great anime with a lot of twists and drama. They have a lot of characters and all of them feel for the most part developed. Though I would have loved to see more of certain ones. If you want an anime that will probably make you cry then I suggest giving this one a try.
