Let’s get straight to the point.

Great dubbed anime is not a myth; in this series’ case, my statement seems laughable.

When Melty made her debut, she broke my speakers with her unbelievably high-pitched voice. The dub vs the sub controversy is not what I hate most about the Rising of the Shield Gyro.

What bothers me the most is the impropriety this show exemplifies.

The cat ear chick (which hardly looks real on her) was about 5-10 years old at the start of the show. She may have aged to around 16-20 years old after a week of leveling up. Apparently, demi-humans age when they level up (hmmmmmmmmm).

Being a demi-human does not change the fact that she’s 5-10 years old with a fake older body.

But it’s just a game, and their NPCs made of binary. Sure, this anime is based on a game; however, it ambiguously implies romance between an underaged girl and a college male (one could make a hefty amount of hentai titles based on this show’s plot and characters).

Back to the “this show being based on a game” thing. I came to watch an RPG type anime series with lots of level grinding, adventures, and intriguing unlocks — a show that makes me reminisce the times of when I avidly played MMORPG type games.

Instead, I have to witness a cliché anime romance story filled with enough blushes to give makeup companies a run for their profit.

Folly, folly, folly, folly....folly—Oh how I hate the treacherous folly.

~I find it extraordinarily hilarious that this show’s most hated character is what makes this anime somewhat redeemable.

SIKE! Maybe it might redeem itself when I come back to it in 10-30 years from now.
