No spoilers- This review is solely informed by the content found in the anime. This season follows the children of Grace Field House after their escape. They're alone and afraid in a new world rife with unfamiliar flora and fauna, under the constant threat of the demons pursuing them. Primed with their wits and the knowledge Minerva-san snuck to them, they set off into the world, seeking to save the other children and hopefully abolish the farm system altogether.

Although this season did have some interesting and suspenseful episodes, this anime completely missed the mark; a huge let down compared to the first season. The largest disservice this anime did was not to the children of Grace Field House, but to the villains. The first season of this anime had a linear progression, with the main opposing force being their Mother, a seemingly unbeatable antagonist. As the children gained ground little by little, the threat of being caught or outsmarted by their Mother constantly hung over them. Unfortunately, however, this second season lacked any real semblance of a linear plot. Through the course of the anime, it seems as though a new villain would be introduced every three episodes, making for disjointed, and unimpactful arcs.  Due to their short lifespan, the threats they made never quite felt real, as their entrance into the plot was swiftly followed by their exit. Additionally, the villains felt one-dimensional, with far too little time spent on developing them as characters external to their conflict with the children. And in turn, as the villains did not pose a threat, the children’s victories over their foes felt far too easy, dry, and insignificant. I wanted the children to struggle and fight to earn their freedom, demonstrating each and every episode why they deserve to be free. And I wanted us to be on the edge of our seats with each cliff-hanger, trying to fathom what will happen next.

I just wanted this season to have been treated with more love and care.
