Love Me for Who I Am

Love Me for Who I Am

Mogumo is a cute but lonely high school student who just wants a few loving friends. Fellow student Iwaoka Tetsu invites Mogumo to work at his family’s café for “cross-dressing boys,” but he makes an incorrect assumption: Mogumo is non-binary and doesn’t identify as a boy or a girl. However, Mogumo soon finds out that the café is run by LGBT+ folks of all stripes, all with their own reasons for congregating there. This touching manga explores gender, gender presentation, and sexuality from many different angles, including the ways people are pushed to conform in a world that doesn’t understand them…until the world begins to learn, one person at a time.

Both are stories about amab trans people and the issues they deal with. Both are told in a way to educate people who aren't very familiar with the subject, but can also be enjoyed by trans people looking for uplifting / wholesome stories about aceptance and resilience.

Both have to do with LGBT teens struggling with their gender identities and their families that are also struggling with understanding it.

Miageru to Kimi wa

Miageru to Kimi wa

After his first love confession is rejected, the troubled and short Yuuki Shibuki finds himself crying away his heartbreak at a park. Feeling depressed and blaming his short height and feminine looks for his failure, his pain is eased when he encounters a cool, hooded street musician who has a soothing touch with the guitar. The next day he meets that same musician at the park and learns that 'he' was in fact a tall girl named Chikago Takamine and that she was playing the song he heard the last time specifically for him. Yuuki is quickly smitten by such an unimaginably dashing, and handsome girl. To him, it is not love, but instead, a miracle.

Both books are about acceptance about oneself and others around us.

Though I wanna be your girl focuses more about the gender identities (they also have a good amount of LGBTQ+ rep) while Mom, I'm Gay focuses more on the romantic/ sexual attractions.

Himegoto: Juukyuusai no Seifuku

Himegoto: Juukyuusai no Seifuku

This is a story of a group of college-age people who struggle with gender and sexual identity. Yuki is a girl, but she is terrible at 'being feminine.' She mostly dresses like a boy and is often mistaken as one. However, she has to wear a skirt and imagine being dominated by a guy in order to masturbate. Nagao Mikako seems young and innocent, and she uses that apparent innocence to sell her body as a fake 15-year-old. She knows her youthfulness can't last forever, but she enjoys tricking the men. Her friends have no idea of her sexual habits and believe her to be sweet and sheltered. Aiba Kaito is a pretty good-looking guy, but he wants to be Nagao Mikako. He often dresses as a girl, picking out clothes that mimic Mikako's style. Though he's into cross-dressing, he is still attracted to women. Will these young adults and their friends be able to handle their 'guilty secrets' and muddle their way through this confusing period of their lives?

If what you are looking for is a story about gender exploration and romance that has similar themes to this manga, then this is your call !

Himegoto treats these topics in a more adult way that I Wanna Be Your Girl — which is directed to a teen audience — but they still explore the same subjects.

( Do bear in mind that Himegoto has the subject of prostitution as one of the main themes of the story, and it doesn't shy away from explicit scenes. )

Haikei, Seken-sama.

Some 10 years or so ago, a high school student from a regional town named Rino Tachi went to an all-girls school, studied here and there, and enjoyed talking with his female friends. He was an "ordinary" girl, except for his pervasive feeling of unease within his body. A story of "love" set in a time that demanded even more conformity than now, about living one's fullest life while hiding the discontent. A story about searching for oneself.
