It's neither good nor bad. The plot is okay but it could get better. The MC's objective is just weird and doesn't align well with the setting he's in. I thought he would embrace the way of living of his environment and use it to the best of his abilities but he wants to reform it. Having a good guy reincarnate into a bad guy body is not necessarily the best scenario, especially when said good guy is firm on his morals. It creates some dissonance between him and all the other characters. Stuff like not killing or being virtuous doesn't work well with a demon cult you know.

Aside from that I'd say the characters are too quick to change and trust him. They just decide to follow them because he shows some strength and the author tries to make it into some complicated political drama but it falls flat. You learn that someone is supposedly very powerful but then MC can just overpower them easily. But yet MC is not strong enough to take on the throne. And the whole story about his father just disappearing don't make any sense. That added to the conflict MC has with people from his past life on the good side. I really don't know how the author will blend all of this but so far it doesn't look good. It goes all over the place.

Luckily it's still entertaining to read so I'll keep it on my reading list.

Boring. The character design is good and the art is great, but the story is not that interesting. It's really annoying to see the way people treat the MC and there's no explanation to a lot of things that should've been explained. Don't really recommend.

Reincarnated As An Unruly Heir[Review]

By Jeon Ma-Du

Story:

This story is a typical reincarnated as a villain, which is rather generic, while at the same time possessing the "Murim" and "Overpowered MC" genres. However, this story was extremely bland. There was a bunch of unexplained stuff that made the reading experience extremely confusing, as well as the names of the titles in the manhwa.

  • Heavnely Sword Demon
  • Heavenly Demon Sword
  • Demon Sword Style
  • Demon Styled Sword

This manhwa had so many similar names it was hard to keep track of it. Characters were also rapidly introduced, which also made it difficult to keep track of the more-important characters, and who are the side characters that are not worth remembering. The story writer also seemed to forget some events/objects/characters after adding them to the story, then forcefully added back those things into the story, making the story separate into fragments.

Art:

The art was just average, with the shades and tones of colors not being utilised and applied properly, as well as character faces and bodies have their skin tone as a monochromatic scheme. Not very appealing to the eye as well. Linework is generally alright, with some mishaps and others, but overall the art grade is rather disappointing and average.

No difference compared to other art styles, generic, unoriginal, no sense of indivisuality. No unique art style, just average.

Characters:

There are too many characters, resulting in almost all of them having no character growth, or situations that challenge them to become stronger. The MC's personality is unique, as he is suppose to act lustful and hot-headed, while he is actually the opposite. However he doesn't really grow as a character throughout the series.

Overall:

This manhwa is bland and doesn't really possess a sense of indivisuality and originality. It is boring, and has too many elements such that its even diffucult to keep track of all of them. Almost no character development.

Thanks for reading this review!

The point of tension in this manhwa comes from the protagonist trying to maintain a facade of being lustful and self-centered, while presumably having a more righteous mindset underneath it all. Fe does this for two reasons: to disarm people and make them lower their guards around fem, and to fit in better among the rest of the Sun Cult. The Sun Cult is currently in the middle of a power struggle to choose who will become the next leader and, long story short, our protagonist wants that position. So far, we have seen fem gathering two allies (Jaegal Tong and Ul Taesik) to strengthen feir position, and it's implied that enough allies will eventually gathered to fill up all the houses fe has available. Though the immediately next storyline seems like it'll be more focused on weakening one of feir opponent's positions instead.

I find the humor surrounding the protagonist's relationship to Dan Yehwa, feir fiance, to feel a bit forced. And the romance in general in this series isn't very well put together. The fights are adequate, though there aren't very many of them. The strategizing, mind games, and political maneuverings are good enough, though there has yet to be an antagonist who seems actually threatening. There are some decently humorous moments sprinkled throughout, but it's not laugh-out-loud funny. This is an okay manhwa. But if you're looking for a good murim story, there are better ones out there. Volcanic Age comes to mind, for example.

This is a great Manga to read and I love everything about it. I'm just waiting for it to update but this is really amazing. The characters and story line flow so well with each other. I'm loving this story quiet a lot.
