Henkyou Gurashi no Maou, Tensei shite Saikyou no Majutsushi ni naru Manga

There was a mage called ‘The Lone Demon King’ at the frontier. He was just a creature that never grew old, but he was loved by the villagers as something of a guardian deity. However, he was destroyed by a magic organization that sees his existence as dangerous. 200 years later, he is reincarnated as the second son of an aristocrat and obtains the strongest magic power. “Let’s pretend to be a human this time.” However, being a human lover, he didn’t particularly think of revenge and has decided to pretend to be human in this life. In his past life, he was the guardian deity of a region, and in this life, he’s a local aristocrat, but he does not know common sense. He doesn’t know how to take it easy. As the second son of an aristocrat, he is loved by his family and friends, and while he is regarded as a master of magic in the magic guild, he becomes an ‘Immortal Mage’ behind the scenes.

I really don't care if it's technically isekai or not, basically everything can be if you squint just right. So I'm counting it. It seems like the "romance" would be... Very problematic, but he does refuse to date the child and has absolutely no romantic feelings fo her, so... Win? It just has to stay that way for a while. This manga has a technically pretty unique and cool gimmick, where the main character used to be the equivalent of a lord, protecting a village, but died and has been reincarnated in the future. The whole being reincarnated in the future thing isn't unique, and neither is being a lord/king, but the execution makes it feel very different. Especially what the past side characters did between the time the mc died and was reincarnated. A lot of the time in there they'll have the world fallen apart and regressed in skill and knowledge so their main character can be super strong and cool, but here that didn't happen. He's strong and cool because he was always strong and cool, the world itself has changed but not for the worse. Honestly not enough has happened yet for me to make more comments.

I am really looking forward to the rest of this series. (Currently only up to chapter 6 is out) so far I am vary much enjoying the MC and his development. The concept is unoriginal but it's taken in a new way. the main character's backstory was vary well done, for such a short page count. Within one chapter of about 30 pages it sets up the character his motivation and his personality, making him extremely sympathetic. He also doesn't feel too over powered. I like that he has a limitation in "Ancient Magic" and it does a great job establishing that the MC is a giant nerd. He instantly analyzes all the magic around him. It shows his intelligence rather then saying he's intelligent. Worth watching, can't wait for more.

This fantasy manga has a pretty original story and a kind natured immortal main character with simple but cute mindset. The art is a bit mediocre but pretty good for this kind of manga because there is not too much fighting. Overall it's a slow but good read.
