Redo of Healer - Reviews

(TRIGGER WARNING: abuse, rape, assualt) The high reviews for this show is literally why I hate reviewers on this site. This is quite literally revenge porn targetted towards incels who think the reason they don't get laid is because they are "too nice". Keyaru might as well be made of cardboard and rage because I've seen hentai protagonists with more personality. This story was set up in a way by which the abuse and trauma Keyaru goes through was only inflicted to justify how brutal he is when he acts in retaliation towards his abusers. The characters so far are very one-dimensional either being saintly or evil incarnate. Perhaps there could be some more storybuilding that could fix this show by showing how hating and abusing victims perpetuates a cycle of hate creating more anger and horrible individuals who act violently creating more twisted people and so on..(Nagato is smiling down from heaven knowing his philosophy is relevant here too). That being said, if you like this show because you idolize Keyaru for "giving that bitch what she deserves" and taking his revenge like some sort of edgy vigilante, you're missing the point of this story.  I am interested to see where this goes so I will update this once it's over.

Update: How is this review still upsetting people years after I wrote it? To those angry edgelords in the responses to the comments, ask yourself this question: Do you really think this is a good show or are you just hating this review because you think I'm one of those soyboy cucks your favorite streamers whine about? Despite what some of you people who's reading comprehension hasn't developed past the second grade seem to think, I never said tHiS SHOW Is bad bECAUSE IT has RApE AnD raPE is BaD. There are great shows and stories that handle these topics fine and use it to explore significant themes and develop characters. Off the top of my head, I can recall Banana Fish and Beserk which are incredible stories despite showcasing rape and sexual assault. At best, this show cheaply uses rape as an instrument for the main character to exact his revenge. 

Thoughts I had watching this:

• Everything is set up for the edgy hate/revenge porn scenes to the point where it’s irrational sometimes Why did the author make it so that in order to level up you have to get creampied by Keyaru? Also Keyaru is a horrible character, beyond Flaire, he grooms other vulnerable girls and treats them as toys to pleasure himself. He does this through drugs, gaslighting or the leveling up mechanic. Like think about how much sense that makes? This wolf girl wants revenge therefore I must make her my sex slave and fuck her, this demon girl is clearly uncomfortable with me having sex in front of her but I’m going to do it anyway because I want her to join me. Why do teenagers idolize this dude? Also there’s often a bunch of senseless brutality demonstrated by everybody which brings me to my next point.
• Characters are literally Mother Theresa or Hitler, nothing in between. If you think “oh but Voortmahn, this is just human nature” you should go outside and talk to people for once. Like even one person. The author doesn’t even try to build up other characters and provide some line of reasoning for why they do what they do. They are just evil for the sake of being evil. The kingdom made her this way is such a dumb and weak reason to explain why Flaire was such a piece of shit and you know it.
• Also what the fuck is with the power Keyaru has? He just says heal before he enchants a sword, steals xp, and mutilates somebody. Dumb and inconsistent power that just does what is most convenient at the time.

In conclusion, this show is what happens when you take fantasy rpg power fantasy trash and mix it with the wet dream of an incel. Even for a hentai, the story is just not good. I stand by the points made in the original review. If you don't like that, cope, seethe, mald.

Okay, hear me out, this is 99% hentai and 1% ecchi. But there ARE censored versions that you can watch if you just came for the story. The story is very good, its essentially the same as "The Rising of the Shield Hero," but taken to an extreme. The story takes place in a fantasy world, where there are heroes that are meant to defeat this Demon Lord. One of them is named Keyaru, who is the "healer" hero. However, the rest of the heroes treat him far worse than just trash. The other heroes pretty much made him a slave and tortured him. The healer wanted revenge, so he did a time reversal to back when Keyaru didn't meet the other heroes, just to get revenge on the other heroes. However, unlike The Rising of the Shield Hero, the protagonist pretty much becomes evil, and it's to the point where there is no "good" side in the story. This all makes the story amazing. The art could definitely be better in the animation. I gave a 4 for sound because the voice actors are not very good at acting scared or frightened, and of course, the hentai scenes. The character development is great.

REVENGE!!!! This is the Ultimate do over revenge anime!

A healer who was horribly abused takes his freedom and restarts the world to live a better life and get his revenge. This anime is brutal and VERY close to a hentai. You have been warned, the uncensored addition is pretty graphic. The story and hentai work well together. As of episode 7, definitely a 5 star adult anime!

Pretty short and simple thoughts: when I first heard of Redo of Healer, I didn't think that it would be that bad. To start with, it begins as a generic hero journey of a guild trying to take down an evil overlord, but instead, we follow the guild's healer who, for lack of a better word, is abused and exploited for his healing abilities. Worse yet, whenever he heals someone, that also entails that he receives their painful memories as well. After dying over and over, he eventually regains the memories of the previous lives he had and decides to redo the world so he could have his revenge on those who mistreated him.

For the most part, the show comes off as just an edgy revenge fantasy. Virtually none of the characters are likable; the supposed "heroes" of the setting turn out to be vile pieces of work because of course they are. They are also cartoonishly evil to an extent where they screw themselves over because of them having the need to be douchebags. Later episodes do change things up a bit. So, I was wrong to have said that no one was likable. But the real problem is that they're really only there for the sake of being there. Sure, they have interesting personalities or have reasons to crave vengeance for their wrongdoings, but outside of those aspects, they don't come across as fully well-developed. In other words, they are tolerable, but even then, there is nothing that really makes you invested in seeing them succeed. The main protagonist is really no better off. While it is largely understandable he was driven down a dark path, that doesn't really make his character any better as he also engages in some of the most despicable of debaucheries.

The animation itself...it's fine as long as you're watching the uncensored version. The censored version tends to make the objectionable scenes play off as more awkard by panning the camera away before things could get any more dirty. While it is pretty well animated, it almost feels like a waste to use the animation for an anime of this caliber.

Overall, I feel that the show is bad, but that is just my opinion.

Listen, this is by no means a perfect anime. The plot line starts on generics. HOWEVER, it takes the most REALISTIC turn of events for someone who was seriously screwed over, raped, addicted to drugs, abandoned and then instantly given too much power.

So, IF you decide to watch this, take off your kiddy gloves, throw ethics out the window and just feed the demon inside all of us. 

This is a real part of us humans. And yes, we are disgusting. Own it.
