The underlying theme of the story seems to be: Stockholm Syndrome
It possibly could likened to the Twilight series or Beauty and The Beast, albeit with more abuse.
I stand by the word abuse as the protagonist gets threatened with death, violated (how many times was she ignored after saying "no; stop; help; ect", manipulated into situations she doesn't want to be in, called names, or told that she was inherently wrong or bad.
If each gentleman was a gang member instead of a vampire, how much would actually change?
Potentially also: A young girl gets essentially forced to live with a group of potentially dangerous men and eventually forces them to recognise her as an integral part of the group.

The animation was something that I liked. Simple but with plenty of detail to convey the character or situation.
I felt the music was a little out of place. Often far too upbeat and romantic compared to how I viewed the situations.

I felt Story and Characters  are closely interrelated in this anime. I think that both were fairly predictable from episode 1.
Underlying theme being Stockholm Syndrome which will mean the protagonist will suffer abuse from the guys who just want to use her as they see fit. She will work towards gaining their acceptance. Along the way there will be an outside influence that forces them to unite or perish at which she will show her commitment to the group, and use her unique power for the cause, and eventually be accepted by the group.
Does it play out like that, pretty much.
As much as I don't like the theme or story, or other events within the story, I decided to give it a better score because the story does set itself up. The end can be seen from the start. You know that eventually the gentlemen will accept the girl, that they will no longer see her as a thing to be used but an integral part of the group.

Overall in my eyes this stands on the upper end of average for a stockholm fantasy story.
It kinda blows my mind that some people fantasize about being in this situation though, or say that there was no abuse in this story.

Side thought: The mansion should be named Charles Mansion.

~ 3 minutes from what 15 minutes are opening and ending

~ Harem

~ The protagonist is really blonde ... yes, I mean, she's really stupid. She follows the vampire and is alone with him. And oh no! He bit her! This is a monster! How could she have guessed that? After all the recent events ... And she has done it again and again. "Oh no, please ... no, do not bite me!" And sometimes she runs away and ... she gets bitten by the vampire ... Yay!

~ The storyline is not really better and done after two episodes.

~ The Characters are ok. They are not all the same. But...

This anime should become a hentai. But apparently that was not approved and they had to do something else.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tada!

I've watched both seasons to fully make my opinion on this.

Both, the writter and the people behind the Anime HATE women. They genuinely coupled a female doll with a group of egoistic, sadistic and perverted scumbags to play a mental bukkake game. I can't imagine how a healthy woman would enjoy watching this and I'm an adult male.

Plot and Premise ain't any better. It's focused around Heritage but doesn't affect the Actions of the Characters. It occurs at the end of each season and doesn't affect the MC's by any means. It's just something going on behind the scenes. I'd say it's 99% ''Horny Teenagers get horny, abuse the female character and splash her body with blood'', male group changes while the female stays in the room, and Action! In my opinion it targets the male audience with greviances against the whole female population.

I could define later scenes like this: She finds him and is only slightly scared. While she steps closer, he becomes more horny. When she is close he falls over her and while sucking her blood calls her b..ch and other impolite words. In the meantime you can't tell if she like/dislike it. Afterwards will follow some other garbage talk and end. That's it, ongoing like this for 2 seasons.

Male characters are tailored to suit female taste, while the female protagonist will suit the taste of a male being mentaly sick. While she plays the forceless victim, they try to make the female audience falling for them. Both aspects antagonize each other. In other words the series fails to deliver its content. The audience ain't strictly defined.

It's a sad series about mental and physical rape without any deepness behind it. Another failed reverse harem where the female Main Character lacks character features to supply the audience with emotions to allow the watcher feel connected with its main protagonist.

If you want any enjoyment out of this, I highly recommend the dub. I probably laughed at the dialogue for half the runtime, with my 'favourite' quote being: ''Seeing that scared face of yours really gets my juices flowing, pancake.'' That quote also sums up the entire show immediatly.

Ok, so, Diabolik Lovers. I know it's kind of notorious in the anime community, and for good reasons. It's got content warnings from here to Tokyo. It's also based on an otome, so there's going to be some clichès too.

Story:

So the story is, very simply put: Yui Komori, a girl from the church gets assigned a new residence to live in. When she arrives, she almost immediatly figures out that the people already living there are all vampires who thirst for her blood. Now, the entire show is about her trying to figure out why she's there and at the same time keep 6 horny vampires at bay.

Animation:

There was certainly nothing wrong with the animation, although the art-style wasn't really my cup of tea, I could see the effort that was put into them.

Sound:

I'll make this sound segment about the voice-acting and my god was it glorious. They delivered the weird lines so unironically that after a few episodes I was crying of laughing too hard. If you ever decide to watch this, please do so in the dub, it's a masterpiece. I'm convinced I can watch 100 episodes of it in the dub.

The Characters:

I'm not even going to comment on them that much. They're all... really, really sexually abusive.

TL;DR: I'd probably die if I watch it subbed.

My first impression of Diabolik Lovers was that it was fucked up...

Despite it being such a train wreck Diabolik Lovers kept you watching. Even though I knew it was bad I just couldn't not watch the next episode. You can try, but it is near impossible to drop this anime. It might be because of curiosity and wanting to see how much shittier it could get...

It started as one of those, ‘It’s so bad, it’s good’ anime, however, it ended up being rather dull. After the shock of the whole constant bite rape and sadistic personalities of the Sakamaki brothers wore off (about half way through for me), it became as dull as Amnesia. However, it was a hell of a lot more watchable.

As expected with an otome game adaptation, the leading girl Yui is bland and does not stick up for herself. Seriously, I’d have kicked the Sakamaki brother’s arses to hell numerous times. Yes, I’d have probably gotten killed in the process but it is better than being a soft little bitch. Maybe I could have won them over with some personality to rival their own?

The length of each episode was perfect for this type of anime, however, the pacing was pretty shit at times. The final episode was a bit daft. You had the ED halfway through and then the OP shortly after. The final episode left a few things untied such as who the hell Yui is stupid enough to choose. I think it’s probably Ayato though. I myself prefer Laito but maybe I’m just insane.

Overall, Diabolik Lovers is nothing special. It tried to shock you but it could not hide its lack of story and overall pointlessness. I would not recommend it unless you love shoujo vampire or reverse harem anime and don't have anything else to watch. 5/10
