Though I have watched the film and read the manga (which I also really like), this review will solely be based on my own personal opinions on the film itself.

First off, I got interested in this film not only because I heard many people say it was heartfelt/touching, but because I have/had friends & loved ones in the Deaf community, and because I used to study ASL when I was younger.

Story: To me, I think it's a good way to raise awareness & understanding of those who are deaf and/or have a speech impediment, and what they might possibly go through, but it's more than just that. It also deals with friendships, bullying, etc, but I won't go into it more than that, in case you haven't watched the film.

Animation: I really liked it, what more can I say?

Sound: Same with animation, in the fact that I'm not sure how to word properly how much I enjoyed it in full detail. I liked both the Dub and Sub versions of the film, but I'm more partial to the Japanese version for some reason.

Characters: Oh, boy, where do I even start..? *Nervous*
I have the rating unmarked because I honestly can't come up with a definitive number, since it changes each time depending on my mood, etc. As someone who has been ridiculed for their own disabilities, Shoko really stood out to me the most, and thus is my favorite character in A Silent Voice. I find her quite inspiring. :)

Overall: I implore you to watch this at least once, because I feel like this is one of those films that you need to watch at least once in your life time. Many emotions were felt watching this (anger, sadness, happiness, etc) and some tears were almost shed, but it was so definitely worth it. <3
Some people say that it should've been an anime series instead of a movie, and while I think that would've been cool too, I think this is a good "introduction" for those that don't like to read much, but yet want to see what all the "hub-bub" with A Silent Voice is about.

Saddest movie I have ever watched. I cried so much within the first 20 minutes, even at the parts that weren't sad. Amazing and blew my mind. Loved the character development. Ew, except Naoka.

This is such a powerful movie. It blew me away the first time I saw it. Please, if you haven't already seen it, give yourself the luxury of watching it.

First of all , the movie is really really good. Absolutely, amazing direction, heartbreaking story, fantastic music. I also noticed the hidden meanings and messages for example the koi fish. I watched the movie in my lowest time of my life, and this movie made me cry, I literally burst out crying in the end! The soundtrack is sooo amazing, I can't hear the track without watching the ending scene . Naoko Yamada had done an excellent job and also the writer. I want to say few more things, some people found the movie very boring, as it is long....but I didn't, maybe because I went deeply into the story. This movie is more than a love story I can also see the awkwardness of shoya and shouko , they have feelings for each other but, they can't say it because of their past . I recommend this movie to everyone , as it is a masterpiece and it gives us an impactful lessons.

A Silent Voice was a very interesting watch.

Shouko transfers to a new school and struggles to make friends. She tries her best but everybody in her class just finds her weird because she can't hear. Shouya, the troublemaker of the class, takes his bullying too far and makes Shouko transfer schools. The class then turns on Shouya, who then becomes the bullied kid in class.

Shouya tries to end his own life but doesn't actually follow through with it. After being confronted about what happened with his mother Shouya sets out to find Shouko and tries to make up for all the things he's done to her.

When you finally think things are going well, you realise that Shouko feels that she's the one to blame for all the bad things that have happened to Shouya.

It's a pretty crazy emotional ride but extremely well executed with some amazingly strong characters and gorgeous visuals.

Both mothers in the movie are some of the best characters I've ever seen.
