If you liked the visual feast in Canaan or the KnK movies, you're gonna find the other quite a treat. Both works feature strong, isolated female leads, more at home inflicting violence than having a normal conversation with a friend.

Lastly, both anime possess an engaging and memorable ensamble cast who bring a human element to the unbelievable events of the story.

Wanginator Wanginator says...

Ryougi Shiki and Canaan are almost exactly the same, except one uses a gun and the other uses a knife. Because of this, both series feature a sort of "search for oneself" conflict that the lead characters have with themselves.

chii chii says...

Both anime have main female leads who posses interesting killing techniques, are totally badass, and aren't afraid to shead some blood. Cold and blunt these women seem like they are ice queens but come to care for those who are closest to them eventually. Both anime are action packed with an amazing story to go along with it. Check out one if you liked the other.

With each of these shows coming from Type-Moon, there is little surprise that a person would enjoy the other if they liked one. The art work is the same, several of the story elements and character are very similar, and they are both fairly violent.

jahler jahler says...

Both animes have a strong female lead and they both posseses various killing techniques. Both are cold hearted to start with but will start to care about the one's close to them. The character development in Canaan and Kara no kyoukai is very good and so is the artwork. I strongly advice you to watch the other if u liked one.

ChalamiuS ChalamiuS says...

The main characters of both Kara no Kyoukai (Shiki) and Canaan are strong female leads that are well-versed in combat. Both the Canaan and Kara no Kyoukai also feature beautiful looking animation.

If your after a strong female lead, then these two anime both offer that. While they have largely different basis for their storyline, the same style of storytelling mixed with action means that it's actually comfortable to sit and watch one if you've seen the other. Throw in two amazing soundtracks and your pretty much sorted. Go watch!

CelestialVoices CelestialVoices says...

Both animes focus heavily upon their lead character whom in both cases is a powerful and headstrong woman.  They even share very similar character designs for their respetive leads!

These series have a very similar feel, a fairly bloody story, and very similar lead females. On top of that they attempt to impart some philosophy into the stories.

Both animes have a strong female lead, both the female leads are killing machines in there own way. Overall the animes are both realy good and u should check out the other if u liked one

Both share many similarities. They focus on the dark, twisted, grizzly, gory, mysterious nature of the human mind pushed to it's limits. Highly recommended.

Wanginator Wanginator says...

There's certainly a similarity between both series, despite the big differences in storyline and plot. The atmosphere in both are almost identical, as is the style of storytelling. And at the center of each is a female lead that is shrouded in mystery when you first meet her. So if you liked the "mood" that you felt when watching one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.

Both 'Kara no Kyoukai' series & 'Denpa Teki na Kanojo' gives similar dark, interesting feel with a pinch of romance in it... both are female leads though their characters vary (like 'Shiki' being more murderous, tsundere, 'Ame' is little bit more relevied of murderous instinct & more devoted to 'juu') both of them are quite similar when it comes to protecting their loved ones... if you like one please try other, you are sure to like it...

RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne

RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne

Rin is a private investigator with an advantage: near immortality. Thanks to the spores of the Yggdrasill tree, both she and her assistant Mimi have lived many years longer than the average person. That isn’t to say that being immortal doesn't have its problems. With 'angels' wanting to devour them, the being Apos sending wave after wave of professional assassins to kill them, and constant hangovers from long nights of drinking, being immortal still has its downsides. With Apos' attempts at removing them from the picture increasing, can Rin and Mimi figure out what he is after so they can return to their morning shots of Vodka?

Both anime's seem to have a strange sort of company who does work with the mysterious, and through this, there is a lot of battles... In both anime's there are spirits that must be fought, and magickal/spiritual powers that are involved in the battles...

There are also characters who assist in the battles, but have no actual powers themselves... There is a lot of blood shed in both animes along with mature themes as well...

They are both ova's but the story's go in completely different ways so if thats okay with you, and you enjoyed one, you should enjoy the other

Mnemosyne and Sinners revolve around a little company devoted to solving crimes.  Rin and Shiki set out to solve each crime enshrouded in mystery by any means possible.  The catch is each woman is equipped with a unbeatable power.  The result usually ends up being a bloodbath gore fest and only leads to a much bigger and insane mystery.  If gore and mystery and killing is your thing, then enjoy.

In a row: bloody/dark atmosphere, leading female with unique personality that changes through the story, supernatural, plot-order, romance background and so much more alike. You just can't help but loving and hating these girls.

Are you into that? Then check this anime.

Both start out with dark atmosphere, with an episode which is out of the chronological order of the other episodes. The main character of both series are women, who have a disturbed backstory, and their character personalities change dramatically during the story, whilst on their journey of dealing with the supernatural. On top of this, both series rely on suspense, and often treat the viewer to awesome action scenes.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai are works by the same author, with both set in the parallel worlds of the same universe. Indeed, though Tsukihime suffered a bit from pacing and story issues, they are undeniably two birds of the same feather - Kara no Kyoukai just happens to pick up the conceptual slack that Tsukihime left behind. With so many obvious similarities between the two, it's hard to go wrong either way; just keep in mind that Kara no Kyoukai is by far the superior of the duo and you'll be good to go.

Both anime (particularly the 2nd of Kara no Kyoukai) share very similar and relevant themes relating to their main heroines.  They also both display their respective narratives in chronologically convoluted ways which make them both very interesting to watch.

stingreis stingreis says...

Both of these anime's have a lot of very dark and mature themes involved in them... they both are endeavor to watch for those who have a weak stomach for realistic tragedies such as rape and murder. However they also bring together a sense of overcoming those tragedies to move forward...

Perfect Blue is a movie with one plot and Kara no Kyoukai - The Garden of Sinners is an OVA with several story arcs involved in it, yet the similarities of the two tragic and mysterious Anime's are great, therefore, I would strongly recommend that if you liked one of these, you will like the other..

Fate/stay night

The Grail grants the winner any wish they have. But driven by an unyielding sense of justice and self-sacrifice, for what will Shirou fight?

Set in a parallel universe to Kara no Kyoukai, FSN has many similar elements; indeed, Tomoe Enjou of Movie 5: Paradox Spiral is something of the precursor to FSN's hero Shirou Emiya.  The magical system, general vibe, and level of dark and violence is similar throughout all the material from TYPE-MOON, and while visual and plot parallels between KnK and TYPE-MOON's Tsukihime are more apparent, there are fun little references in KnK to things such as the "Counter Force" that are tied to the character of Archer in FSN.  While FSN is perhaps not quite as well-executed as KnK is, the basis on which both sit is solidly felt in either show and will be all the more apparent once the producers of KnK get finished with the FSN prequel Fate/Zero.

Armed Librarians and Kara no Kyoukai are action series with pretty large casts (many of whom have superpowers) and convoluted plotlines. Though their storytelling is a bit flawed at times, there are tons of really neat ideas in each series, which combined with the rapid pacing makes each rather entertaining. And since Kara no Kyoukai is a series of movies and Armed Librarians is arch-based, they have a pretty similar flow, as well.

Each of these titles have a large cast of magic users and a seemingly disconnected story that can be hard to follow.
