If you have any interest in the story of Bokurano, I'd suggest just reading the manga. Between the poor animation, characterization butchering, extra convulted plot points that lead to more plot holes, and great dialogue such as "Seiki is a good soldier, but doesn't eat his vegetables," or "I'm so thirsty, I could stand under a stream of water and drink it all!" there really is nothing the anime does better than the manga.
