This manga is unironically really good tbh. I don't think I've outright cackled at a manga the way I have at this series in a long time. It's 50% comedy, 30% action and 20% giving you the feels. Like, I don't know how or why this made me feel ever so slightly emotional at some points but seeing Otto express genuine upset got me a little. At first I was worried that the 'bully' characters were gonna fall into icky, two-dimensional stereotypes but they all genuinely shine and I love them all. Deirogi is my baby and I will hold her forever. Marika is so chill and likeable once you get to learn about her. Kirika is Kirika. Something-something what Otoha said about "They're all good people on the inside" - the friendship definitely corresponds with the classic misfits friendgroup trope (so much so that Marika literally refers to the friend group as the "Problem Kids"), but it's not oversaturated with tropes and feels pretty genuine (they even *gasp* act like actual middle schoolers!!). Otoha herself is the sweetest little bean and it's so nice seeing her break out of her shell with the help of Doc Ock and her friends. Seeing her wield Ock's arms on her own for the first time was rewarding as hell. Tbh, a surprising amount of blood in this manga. Homegirl Deirogi literally gets a tooth knocked out and is beaten nearly unconscious which caught me by surprise seeing as prior to this scene the tone of the manga was mostly pretty light. So if you're looking for something more violent and action-y rather than just fluff and comedy focused, this might still cater to you. In short, if you want a comedy manga about Doc Ock becoming a father figure to a meek middle school girl while also simultaneously possessing the middle school girl's body and beating the shit out of people, then this is the manga for you. Excited to see how future chapters play out! Also, shoutout to Kirika and the Rawr-Rawr stick. That panel caught me off guard.
