Rin-ne and Inuyahsa are so similar that they could be sequels, the only significant difference is that Rin-ne takes place in modern times while Inuyasha takes place in ancient times. Both stories involve a self-centered, demonlike boy with special powers, who (rather reluctantly) fights against supernatural beings who disturb the piece of the mortal world. Each is accompanied by a level-headed human girl & a somehwat annoying little boy-demon.

In both manga the story and characters are very similar, which is only natural, since they're from the same mangaka. While Inuyasha takes place mostly in the feudal era with the characters exterminating evil youkai and hunting down the main villain, Rinne takes place in the present with the main characters dealing with cases that have to do with the supernatural.

Both manga are about a girl who can see spirits invisible to most people, and a supernatural boy who combats these spirits.

Shinigami-kun

Shinigami-kun

The story follows the title character (also known as God of Death No. 413) who serves the role of sending the spirits of the dead to the afterlife. The "heartwarming fantasy" also deals with parent-child love, friendship, and social issues such as childhood bullying. Shinigami-kun's real name and other details have not been revealed, but he appears in his black suit and bow tie, saying "Congratulations, I'm here to take you to the next world!". Part of his important duties is to persuade someone who seems about to commit suicide and to prevent unexpected deaths (accidental deaths), but as a novice, he breaks rules of the afterlife and makes decisions like a human.

Grim Reaper and Four Girlfriends

Grim Reaper and Four Girlfriends

Kaoru Minaguchi is a "no-lifer" who sucks at school, can't play sports, lacks any real talent, definitely doesn't have a girlfriend, or even a remote desire to change any of the above...until a certain grim reaper pays him a visit. Turns out, she's a reaper of "no-lifers" and if Kaoru can't find a way to become a true "real-lifer," he's as good as dead...! In an effort to stay alive and increase his odds of landing a girlfriend, Kaoru sends love letters to four different girls in school...only for all of them to say yes! But if anyone finds out about his four-timing, he'll be back to being a "no-lifer" and, worse yet, back to imminent death! Forget romantic comedies--this one's a thriller!!

Hades-sensei is no ordinary middle school doctor. In fact, many students believe he is a shinigami. His excessive friendliness and eagerness to win his students' affection does little to offset his terrifying appearance. But, fortunately for this middle school, Hades-sensei is an expert at extracting "byouma", disease demons, from possessed students!
