One-Punch Man 2

@Jaimefm Watched first episode =)
[I think rather than adding a new post for each ep I'll just edit this one as they're released using the ep#s as headers]

Thoughts:
Ep 1
Didn’t care for the new music, didn’t care for the focus on King, didn’t care for Genos’s Doctor dissing Saitama, didn’t care for the lack of Mumen Rider, and didn’t care for the greatest threat not having been Borus.

I enjoyed Sonic looking for Saitama and Sonic dissing the Hero Association.

Really enjoyed Saitama breaking the controller ‘cause his cooperative’s an item hog.

It most certainly isn't. I'd suggest removing that link and save a mod the trouble.
Thanks for the heads up

o.0 It should be pretty obvious that it's a pirate site.
I hardly go out of my way to search for a show outside of any paid services I'm currently using. I only found out about this from another site I'm using to notify me when a ep is released.

It might be easier to just make a new post for each episode. That's what myself and everyone else will probably do.

As for the first episode: Did I hate it? No.
But did I love it? Also no.
Like I said in the other thread Ill probably end up watching it anyway, but I'm a lot less excited about it now. It wasn't as bad as the trailer made it seem like it would be and I hope the rest of the season will be better.

The first episode was ok. Honestly, I didn't notice it looking bad, even though people were bagging on the trailers for bad animation. Nothing blew my mind in this episode, but worked decent enough in my opinion. As for the episode itself

I liked the stuff with King, it got a few chuckles out of me and with how clueless this world's hero organization is, it makes se4nse that something like this would happen.

This is definitely one of the shows I'll watch to the end, maybe because my expectations are lower since I thought that Season 1 was just ok. Entertaining enough to watch a sequel, but not mind blowing, so I had moderate expectations for this season and so far its meeting those expectations.

Why do they depict Saitama in serious mode in casual scenes? Was that a thing in season 1?

The shitty trailer has really ruined the hype, I find myself noticing every lingering still image shot, which made up most of the first episode, and are only ocassionally spiced up with minimal effort lip flapping.

I don't want to shit on it too much, but the manga looks better, and has a comparable rate of unique frames.

Really underwhelming (though keep in mind I wasn't exactly hyped for season 2 to begin with). For what it's worth, I personally think skipping this adaptation and going straight to the manga might be the better experience.

Another show I won't continue. The first season was enough for me as animation porn and with a gag that wore itself out by the end but still managed to make this superhero fan chuckle. Not looking to see Saitama fight stronger opponents now with a "story" attached to it, especially not with that quality drop.

Severing ties early with continuations gets easier every year.

My first time to replying to one of these yay. But man I love the first episode. I was just recently told that a lot of fans don't think it'll do all that good this season. I live under a rock so I don't really notice what too many people are talking about much. But we shall see. It seems to start off pretty well. Maybe we will get to find out why Saitama got so powerful in just 3 days. Lol I am so hoping for that fan theory that inherited All For One hahahahha.

Nice to see that MEGAMIND is finally getting an anime adaptation

I thought of MegaMind too.

Oh the sadness - perhaps time to binge first season again.

Episode 1:

If it wasn't obvious then, then it's certainly a little clearer now. One Punch Man S01 only had its insane animation quality going for it. Now that that's gone in S02, all the jokes look so stilted and awkward, while the half-assed sequences of movement and assorted still shots have transformed this into another generic shonen fightfest. Man, it shouldn't be so easy to facepalm after seeing that opening shot of feet, but there it is, friends.

King's backstory was amusing at first, but it got corny when they revealed he and Saitama already crossed paths before. At least his heartbeats from S01 make sense now, but it's super weird the Heroes Association hasn't found out about his secret yet.

To be fair, I find the animation quality to only be only somewhat disappointing, considering the fact that Shingo Natsume is practically the only reason season 1 looked so good. The dude got together all of his connections to make the series a spectacle, directing at Madhouse, and even getting Yutaka Nakamura, a key animator from Bones, to animate a bit from the Saitama vs Boros fight (Nakamura was also the lead animator for the final fight in Sword of the Stranger, Mob vs Koyama, Midoriya vs Todoroki, and ect. ect. other Bones series). Shingo invited Nakamura after having worked with him on Space Dandy, another spectacle of animation, and there's a reason he's been called the "Grandmaster Battle Animator." Now, you can criticize the series for its lackluster animated effort, though. Even with better animation (such as what's featured in J.C.'s other works like Toradora or even Danmachi), the second season still wouldn't be able to compare to the first season, which featured other talented animators brought onto the project by Shingo (I used Nakamura as a prime example, but there were tons of other big names on the project).

Also, as a sellout, it's my duty to direct everyone who reads this towards Nakamura's other works: some MAD I found.

Not the strongest first episode to a season but the volume it was adapted from was obviously just a volume in the middle of the series so I guess they did their best with the material they had.
Still looking forward to seeing this arc animated, even if this animation isn’t as good as the first series.

Ep 1

dunno why everyone is being so negative already. Sure the animation isn't as great as S1, but it's not like it was all that bad either. And every anime will have episodes where the story is a little less interesting.

True, but the first episode shouldn't be one of those. It's supposed to be what draws people into the series. It's the same as making a forgettable first impression when you meet someone new. We have so many entertainment options these days that something making a mediocre first impression is going to be looked down upon when there's so much out there that puts their best foot forward to entice audiences.
