Sound! Euphonium 2

Probably the only series this season that I'm legitimately hyped for; just finished re-watching Season 1 the other day.

Yuri route is true route. Kyoani cannot consistently deny! Reina doesn't need no man!

The hype is real.

I'll just leave this here...

Episode 1

And so it begins. The shipping was real. The last scenes were almost like an axe to some point but then again it doesn't really verify openly. Overall, the pacing and conflict establishment was consistent with what I remember from the first season. This season has a more main stream opening and ending theme than the first but it's still somewhat instrument at least.

Natsuki has a new ship with The Poor Nao Touyama Nozomi cannot return to the band because she left after unknown circumstances unfolded which were already mentioned in the first season, continuity established. Nozomi is paired with now voiced quite stoic and Reina-esque band member Mizore who seemed to be her original Yuri-lover/best-friend but stuff apparently happened between them during the thing with the second years.

Of course it all looks beautiful and the voice acting is on point. This series is Kyoto Animation just doing what they do best with character interactions, cute girls and shiny animation.

Well, I didn't expect this to be a double episode. Not that I necessarily minded, after awhile I was like, "We're still going?"
Overall, it felt like I was just watching another episode of Sound Euphonium, and not necessarily a sequel. So, it seems like a solid continuation of the series.

Not too much else to say about this, I expect that we'll finally see what happened with the last year fiasco, and I'm guessing the season will end on the Representative Battle. Optimistically, they would go onto Nationals, thus setting up Season 3.

I was not expecting this to be such a long episode, but I was not disappointed.

It basically feels just like the first season -- slow-paced, but not at all dull or boring. Everything looks and sounds wonderful as usual. I'm curious to see more of this quiet, mysterious character who gets to the music room before everyone else.

Everything about the fireworks show was adorable. From Reina asking Kumiko to join her and getting really embarrassed about it, to the end where they're holding hands and Reina looks at her with the wind blowing through her hair. Ugh, ugh, ugh. <3

The only negative thing I can say was that I don't really care for the opening and ending themes, but maybe I'll get used to them in time. At least the ending has Tuba-kun.

This was the other show I was mainly looking forward to this season, I'll watch the episode a bit later. Hoping that they can maintain the good drama and awesome instrumental scenes from the first season.

I really need to start the first season of this some time, I haven't heard anything but praise for this show, and even though I'm not big on kyoani, an anime based around music sounds really cool.

It's easy to write the first season off as KyoAni doing what they always do, cute girls doing cute girl things: brass band edition, but the drama is brilliant, I really enjoyed the characters, and it just looks gorgeous.

Ah yissss. I didn't know the first episode will be forty minutes long. It didn't waste any time introducing new characters and new drama. It was just a great opening episode. Well-paced, well-directed, on point animation as expected of Kyoani, excellent voice work with Kumiko's VA once again being the stand-out and that last scene was just beautiful. So very dream-like. Oh and Reina was really adorable in this episode. She's matured so much.

It feels so good to have UFO back. UFO is love. UFO is life.

I thought this scene/picture above, was a little out of place though. Not that it was completely off putting, but it just didn't seem like something those two characters would do. The more subtle hand holding suited them better than this full on leaning in and hand grasping.

Well since the movie's been subbed, in case you feel like you've forgotten anything important, it might a good time to bone up with that.

Episode 1

That was a good use of a double episode.
But they need to cut out the blatant pornography, holding hands and liking it? Degenerate scum.

This was mainly a set up episode for drama to come, the previous years band members are still a sore subject, and now one wants back in again much to the anger of Asuka, and disgust? Dismay? of Mizore.

I feel like we've just picked up where we left off with the characters, Reina is exactly where she is when the last season started, which is good because she had some great characterisation last time around, same with Kumiko. I do wonder if the show is just going to bait us with yuri, because it's blatant that kyoani are pushing them together, even if the source material is completely different in that respect. But the ending scene was nice all the same.

Episode 1
Very strong start to the series, no idea why I didn't watch this when it released but that's just the way I always do things.
The relationships between characters feels very real, the dialogue is above what most anime delivers quality wise.
A lot of things to answer in the coming episodes.

Even Sound Euphonium can't resist a swimsuit episode, the Anime cliche's are too powerful.
That being said, this was pretty tastefully done. There wasn't any over-the-top fan service, although there wasn't in lack in fan service either. It was a nice bit of eye candy, while still progressing the drama we all know and love. I thought it was done well.

There are so many t-shits I've seen in various Animes that I would really like to have someday. Cement Addiction has been added to the list. :megusta:

I still don't really trust Nozomi, she seems a little too suspicious at the moment. I feel like she could go either way, only time will tell I suppose. I hope she doesn't fuck anything up and is being sincere, but there's just something about her.

Otherwise, this was an overall good episode. It had a nice balance of drama and cuteness. So far we're going strong.

Everyone's bathing suits were so cute! Besides that though, considering this was kind of a "filler" episode, it was done pretty well. It didn't feel like it was wasting our time; it still managed to keep the plot going. Also, it didn't feel like a ridiculous swimsuit episode like most anime have.

Poor Reina. Maybe now that Taki-sensei has a girlfriend (presumably), she can focus more on Kumiko. >_>

Everyone is pretty outwardly friendly with letting Kumiko in on what's going on in their lives, lol. She seems to really feel a desire to help everyone; I feel like that may not work out well in her favor in the future. (Or maybe it will, because this is fiction.)

3:

Asuka tricked us all into thinking she was being the mega-bitch here when in reality, keeping Nozomi out of the band for what seems like her own selfish reasons is for the sake of everyone being able to push past Kanto. Being the villain is all just a part of being the hero for her.

And with the whole thing about Taki sensei's past, Kumiko finds herself with two difficult truths to keep from people that might be better off knowing them. Hard stuff.
