Definitely one of the best characters I've ever seen in anime. Don't know what people wanted him to act like, I mean read the name of the damned show ffs. The reason that he's one of the greatest is because he's a unique character and it's been so long since I've seen that in anime. it's always the rage for revenge type or the unbelievably positive. retard in every way. with a huge dream. He's cautious to a level where he's viewed as mentally sick and he gets called that by Ristarte in the show multiple times so I don't know why people are still saying that like it's unknown. He's both cool and funny which is probably why I don't feel any annoying edginess from him.
There is a line between paranoid and being a foolish idiot and I feel the he is always crossing it so, I guess that makes me a terrible person for kind of liking him? His character has that stupid type of humor about him.

And his personality ensures a lot of fuss and good humor.

After learning your background story, I wonder how you can actually hate him. Everything he does and all his caution is MORE than justified.
