Fate/stay night

Fate/stay night

The Holy Grail War is a battle between seven magicians who each summon a mythical hero to fight for their cause. Shirou, a twice orphaned high school boy, had so little magical talent that his foster father did not bother teaching him about the war and its meaning. Thanks to that lack of foresight, Shirou finds himself in a bit of a pinch when he accidentally summons a hero of the strongest class, and is sucked into the fray. The Grail grants the winner any wish they have. But driven by an unyielding sense of justice and self-sacrifice, for what will Shirou fight?

Both of these anime deal with characters teaming up with beings who have special powers. Aside from this, other big similarities are the cast (main especially): a beautiful female teenager fixated on her goal; a selfless, slightly dumb male high school student who, if required, would go so far to protect his powerful female partner - or anyone else for that matter - with his body even if it meant his death (with such reckless action always to Saber's/Fierte's dismay and confusion); a little girl who, like them, also is fighting alongside a gigantic, frenzied being; and finally, a sweet girl who has a crush on the main guy already mentioned. Whenever these beings aren't fighting, they're invisible/hide in a special portable device and can reappear to battle at a moment's notice. The other might be worth a shot if you like any of what I listed.

Z/X Reminds me of Digimon because in both anime characters have devices which summon monsters to fight with. Even though Digimon's story is more developed and it's more family friendly, If you liked Z/X, you will probably like any digimon season, although the first one is the one to start with.

Japan's hottest service is Nicaea, a website that sends your friends a picture of your death before it happens. Daichi and Hibiki are two teens who didn't expect Nicaea to actually be real – that is, until the boys receive an email about their demise, and die shortly after. On the brink of going to the beyond they're given a choice: expire, or have a second chance at life. And so the two awaken to discover the city's been destroyed and they now have the ability to summon demons – an ability that a secretive branch of the government insists they use to help combat an imminent threat. For unless summoners like the teens put a stop to otherworldly invaders destroying the planet, the world will soon disappear...
