Story

The story of Trigun starts scattered and you may think that it will fix in the end, but it actually doesn't, it even brings up more questions. The fact that nobody knows the face of Vash and no-one recognise him even if the description matches for the fact that he's an idiot, it's so funny and smart; so don't get me wrong, I onestly think that the plot is amazing and I really liked it, the problem is that it's not well explained. There are few issues here and there: who are the Gun-Ho Guns? Why the heck Vash always uses the same pistol if he knows that it can destroy everything unwillingly? Why Vash is declared as the first human natural disaster and then they cancel it? Who's Legato and why he works for Knives?
I love when it's all in the right place and when it's all logical, and these thing, that most can say are not important, are important for me.
But in the end, the story is so hearthbreaking and hearthwarming that it deserves a merit.

Animation

The animation is old, I know, but most of the time when the drawings are dated, the artistic sign is soo much more present. I love, I looove when you can see the efforts of the men that draws the scenes and how much art they can express; that's what is missing from most of the new animes that are coming out, it's preety important that some scenes have to bring up the right emotion, that's an important point that makes an anime good.

Sound

I really enjoy country music on cowboy science-fiction scenarios and, even if I don't have a musical ear, I think it was good.

Characters

Here's my favorite part, I really like psicology so this is my shit maaan.

Vash the Stanpede:
At the start of the anime you may think that the 60'000'000 man would have been a cold blooded bastard. He's, instead, just a mask of easygoingness that doesn't know how to deal with his past. Since child he has been thaught that nobody has the right to decide for who has to die, and he made that his reason of living because of the immense ammiration he felt for her life teacher. He has just taken that to the extreme on his mind that he's willing to let live a man that may kill a hunder more just for his ethic. This concept evolves so much for the fact that his brother has a different point of view instead of him.

Knives:
He's Vash's brother, even if they have lived their childhood togheter with the same mentor, they have interpreted the message in different ways: for example whe can take the metaphor shown in the anime; a butterfly got stuck in a cobweb and the spider is about to eat the insect, while Vash tries to break the spider web to save them both, Knives rushes to kill the spider, remaining surprised when the brother said that he wasn't just trying to save the butterfly. So he stands up and says that if he keeps saving both, the spider will die of starvation and it will be just a contradiction; Vash, instead, thinks that nobody has the right to decide for which has to die, arguing with his brother.
Knives hates human race beacuse he thinks that they're just violent and selfish creatures, loving himself and his brother who are different from them. In fact, even after all the hate his bro proves to him, he still tries to convince him to join him and feels bad everytime for the refusal.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood:
He's a character that may seem cold, but he's sooo filled with insecurity. Since a child he learnt to kill and he acts like it doesn't bother him because he has been used to do it, the truth is that he feels bad for it and to justify it he does it for greater purposes. Knowing Vash he started to be envious for how his spirit is unbreakable and that he follows his moral no matter what; hanging out with him makes him feel bad for himself and needs to not stay too much time with him to avoid getting his spirit crushed, but he wants, actually, see him again because he ammires him so much.

The other characters weren't so well designed to say something relevant about them so I will stop here.

Overall is a great anime and i recommend it, even with his problems, you grow fond of the characters and the atmosphere is so amazing and cozying.
Time well spent!

(I'm not mother tongue, so if there are any grammar errors please notice them to me and I'll fix them!)

Long short: If you want to watch something fun with good writing and memorable characters then get started this is a great series.

Watching this in 2021 is so refreshing. I really enjoyed watching this series. I had just barely seen parts of series airing this fall and I was disappointed by the writing and lack of real emotion in the characters, not to mention the overused harem tropes. I started Trigun at the perfect time.

Trigun is a sci-fi but mostly western series that begins as a comedy and ends as a thriller. I see some reviews hammer the first few episodes as not having a tone that matches the rest of the series, but I found them quite hilarious. I loved the witty banter and goofy comedy. Just when you think this might get old, the story shifts and moves, drawing you into a bigger plot and great contrast of ideals. The stakes are always very real because you can develop close ties to the characters you laughed with all the way from the beginning. Though the cast is small, the relations between the different members really carry the series. Wolfwood being a particularly strong character foil to Vash. I would recommend this series to anyone, even if they don’t like anime because it doesn’t fall into so many of the tropes that modern anime has blemished itself with.

Pros:

Excellent characters

Good comedy at the right times

Fun juxtaposition of ideals

Wolfwood

Cons:

Could be slightly more serious and realistic at times (Giant characters what the heck?)

Occasionally an episode isn’t as good as the others

Wanted 10 more minutes at the end to finish tying up that bow
