I won't comment on the sound because I watched the dub and they called her Sue-kah-sah instead of Tsukasa. And full disclosure I came because I heard there was a good sex scene, but I can't get through this. Now here's a breakdown of what I did watch.

The first episode was so rushed and the main fighting scene was sped up to hide how messy the animation is. It's also visibly blurry despite animations from before their time being much more clean (and I checked across multiple sites). This doesn't improve as time goes on. They actually start speaking like fish as it progresses, and I did do a brief look at the sub to see if this was a dub exclusive problem. it is not. They just look like that. If you look at the scene where the girls are talking before class, you'll also notice that theres one girl with crazy eyes who is stock-still staring directly at the camera until she speaks. Everyone else moves but she doesn't. I thought this was a cool detail for her character until other people started doing it every time there is a group of people.

The women do not pass the Bechdal test lol, every scene, and I mean EVERY SCENE they speak is about boys. If it's not about boys, a man will soon appear in the scene to speak. Take the first episode again, they only talk about studying when a man shows up in that before-class scene. They only talk about vampires because blondielocks and to tell Tsukasa not to pay attention to them. Honestly, they're less of fully fleshed out characters and more of alarm clocks ready to ring out the next line about guys at 7:45 each morning. Also don't get me started on how they had a cool vampire lady and reduced her to someone who makes sex jokes or flirts with the ML every time she's on screen. There's only one scene in the first three episodes where she isn't and it's because she's holding back from vomiting.

Speaking of flimsy characters, Tsukasa's personality is about as visible as Hagakure. She has no interesets, no opinions, only love towards the guy she met two seconds ago who stalked her, physically abused her, and sexually assaulted her in episode 1. And he continues these behaviors throughout episode 2 and 3. The worst part is that she doesn't adress it, doesn't get scared, just blushes and thinks about how much she loves him. The romantic tension between the two is non existant but the show keeps acting like we should feel these two are in love while he's still constantly abusing her.

And I don't just hate the women because I'm some raging feminist. ANZAI (not gd on-zai) is such a terribly written character. Yeah he's abusive and overal not a great guy but you don't have to like a character for them to be good. (Also please don't watch the dub, he whispers and his voice never fluctuates even when he's being shot. It's like bad asmr.) But he shows not emotion, not even that he cares for her even though they're in love. And he's not the cool, stoic type of character, he just lacks personality. He doesn't emote or show any interest or feeling ever. And despite his warnings to other vampires he never once even tries to protect or stay away from Tsukasa. He still stalks her even when she can't see him, which he does express in the second episode. He's not angsty or dark, he's just bland. Tsukasa talks about wanting to get to know him better in episode 3 but there isn't anything to get to know. You already know his backstory the second you hear he's a half-vampire because he's like evey other bland character.

And don't get me started on their "romance" again. It's like the author doesn't understand how to show the viewer instead of tell them. And theyre so stiff and uncomfortable around eachother. Also it may just be me but I don't find anything romantic about a guy who constantly has to hold back from raping you. Speaking of...The plot also centers around sexual assualt and it would be fine if it was handled well, which it isn't, but that's more apparent in episode 2. Tsukasa is almost raped and like it's? never? brought? up? Like aside from the brief scene where she mention's her nightmares, she shows no sign of it affecting her at all. And this may be on me because I did only watch 3 episodes but she was nearly assaulted by someone she trusts (and that scene was sudden, badly paced, and terribly handled) and she's just fine around the guy who constantly wants to do that to her.

Before I tell you my opinion about this anime, just in case you're planning to watch this anime, the age rating for this anime is 18+ so watch it at your own risk.

Im going to tell you just a little bit about the storyline, so this anime is basically about a vampire and a human falling in love with each other. So the vampire tries to protect the human and stuff like that. The genre for this anime is romance, thriller and action.

Since there are vampires in this anime, it's very normal for there to be some blood scenes through out the storyline, most of the blood scenes are like the one in Tokyo Ghoul. The storyline is really nice BUT I'm a bit disappointed with the ending. It's not a sad ending, it's actually a happy ending anime, it just that the ending didn't reach my expection :/

I guess that's all from me. Enjoy!

Devils' Line - A Supernatural Romance That Falls Short

Story (4/10): Devils' Line explores the complex relationship between vampires and humans in a world where these supernatural beings exist. The concept is intriguing, blending elements of romance and supernatural drama. However, the story fails to fully capitalize on its potential. It often becomes muddled and overly dramatic, making it difficult to invest in the characters' struggles. The pacing can be inconsistent, with some episodes feeling rushed and others dragging on.

Animation (6/10): The animation in Devils' Line is serviceable but doesn't stand out as a strong point. The character designs are decent, and the action scenes are adequately animated. However, there are moments when the animation quality dips, leading to inconsistencies in visual storytelling.

Sound (6/10): The soundtrack and sound effects enhance the series' atmosphere. The opening and ending themes are catchy and set the tone effectively. Voice acting performances are generally good, with the cast portraying the emotional turmoil of their characters well.

Characters (4/10): The characters in Devils' Line struggle with inconsistent development. The protagonists, Tsukasa and Anzai, have potential, but their relationship and individual growth often feel forced. Some side characters lack depth and are used as plot devices rather than fully realized individuals. The series introduces interesting themes related to the struggles of being a vampire, but these are not explored in-depth.

Overall (4/10): Devils' Line had the ingredients for an engaging supernatural romance, but it ultimately falls short due to a convoluted and sometimes melodramatic plot, inconsistent animation quality, and underdeveloped characters. While it has moments of intrigue, it doesn't live up to its potential.

As for the manga and novel adaptations, Devils' Line originated as a manga series written and illustrated by Ryo Hanada. The manga delves into the story's themes and characters with more depth and offers a more comprehensive experience than the anime. If you're interested in exploring the Devils' Line universe, starting with the manga or novel is recommended, as they provide a more satisfying and coherent narrative.

Supernatural is one of my favorite genres especially with vampires involved. I hope they will be able to animate more of the story sometime in the future.
