I'm going to be honest with you, if you like to cry: this is the anime for you. It is so sad once you near the end. The story is fantastic and original. The animation is smooth and great for nearly 10 years ago, the sound is great. If it gives you any relief, there's barely any squeely anime girl voice in it. Lots of action but I love how it's geared towards both genders. It's a nice short show but it has it's impact today and is a must watch to any newcomers to anime.
