December Rain

Nov 26, 2021

Throughout reading this manhwa, I experienced anxiety and excruciating pain. Gusam and Suchae's search for a place they could call home was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Even if only for a short time, I was emotionally invested in them finding love, happiness, and a sense of belonging with each other. In my opinion, the ending elicits indescribable emotions. It was bittersweet, leaving you feeling empty, and the grief lingered. Their love is genuine and that they were just born into unfortunate circumstances, yet I still love them. Despite their flaws and shortcomings, it makes them more human and adds to their authencity. The atmosphere of unease and tension was apparent, and Kimon-nim did a wonderful job of conveying it. The art style is truly stunning, and each character's emotions can be seen in every panel. It gives me a warm feeling every time the grandmother appears, and seeing her take care of Gusam and Suchae, treating them as grandchildren, is so endearing. Of course, her waiting and wishing them happy was the saddest part.

Some, however, are still vague, leaving questions unanswered. Kimmon-nim did not shed light on K, who might have been a murderer and framed Gusam. It also didn't explain why Gusam couldn't recall why he was in a crime incident in the first place. These are some things that aren't completely cleared up. The murder case left me hanging that it hadn't been resolved. Nonetheless, I am extremely thankful to Kimon-nim for giving us another chapter. They were reborn and found each other again, which was really some kind of therapeutic process.
