Baki: Son of Ogre

By now I have almost no idea what to put in my Baki reviews, thanks to the relatively thin content of the seasons. Although this one has probably been the best season of Baki so far, it possessed the same problems as any other. It's just another oversized training arc for Baki with no real buildup. Honestly, I found Olivia far more interesting than anything else that happened in this arc.

The animations are again reasonably improved, but not enough to call them above average. Further, a big heavy problem is the slow pacing. This season could have easily been shortened by 2-3 episodes without losing any content. And the fights are extremely monotonous. In the meantime, this show is just a freeze-frame battle where everyone pretends to be superior until suddenly one of them flies over. Before this season came out, I've seen better manga animations on Youtube that make the fight between Baki and Olivia look much better than in the anime.
Among other things, the narrators are pure poison to the anime. While Olivia and Baki are fighting, you seriously hear several minutes of the guardians babbling? Good grief, the pacing was already sinking into the ground anyway.

At least this season was again pretty badass and showed everything Baki is known for, from the positive to the negative.
