well it's good that ur back at it and taking it slow. the belts will come with time and experience. u know this already. i totally get what u mean by meatheads. where there's competition, there are meatheads. they make for horrible training partners and can hinder the learning process, if not hurt people. thx and i wish u well too in ur training and health.
no worries. i haven't read that book but it has a catchy name. made me giggle. i'll see if i can find it.
oh nice, u got a base in Karate. which style? if u have interest in the traditional marital arts then u will definitely like taekwondo. just watch out for the "McDojos". finding a legit instructor is important. Judo though, is the most gorgeous art to me. there's something about an ippon, when done right, it's like magic. when u actually do it youself, and then technique is right, it can be so effortless and fluid.
i got a lot of love for the "easy way" but i started in Karate (Shuri-Ryu) at age 8. in highschool i wrestled. after that, i went back to Karate for a few years but decided i wanted to try mixed martial arts. so, i started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai for a few years. then moved on to train solely for the purpose of mixed martial arts and i won my 1st amateur fight about month ago.
hey there. i caught your signature about judo somewhere in the forums. respect! is that your own quote? very well put. it's always a pleasure to speak with a fellow martial artist (i train also) so let's exchange "follows". do you compete in judo?
