Isekai no Sekishi Monogatari is an obvious waste of time. Anyone who considers himself to have a modicum of taste should find this annoying, repetitive, dull, unimaginative, and in general a waste of time. But hey, boobies, amirite?

If you want to watch yet another anime where gets stuck in a new place, is basically better than everyone else at everything, has no real challenges, and has all the girls running after him from the very start then look no further and what is the hell is wrong with you? This is infantile at best, and moronic at worst. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Still, this show is not without redeeming features. Some of the characters are actually somewhat likable (and being a self-proclaimed misanthrope, that hurt to admit), the cartoonish incompetence of the villains is somewhat adorable, and it really has this happy-go-lucky positive attitude. Also, the animation is rather good and the soundtrack is effective. Still, this cannot make up for the show being so mediocre. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Story:

Like many shows there is a strong hook at the start of the series and then it just kind of fizzles out. The plot twists are bordering between simple and childish, but really, what can you expect? This is a mecha harem story. Expecting complexity, powerful undertones, or really, much of a subtext to anything is downright silly. That stuff is replaced by an "elaborate" setup for a strip-pillowfight scene instead. It's a stupid story. But hey, boobies, amirite?

The sheer amounts of fanservice to start out the series is ridiculous, and many scenes are just setup for some more of that. The sexual innuendo is so blatant that calling it innuendo would be like calling it that would be like calling a tornado "a slight draft". Earlier was mentioned that all of the girls chase the hero around, and one would really wish that was a metaphor rather than something that happens repeatedly throughout the show. But hey, boobies, amirite?

You might expect me to say more of the actual plot. But really, while it is there, it is nothing special, and the show is at its best when ignoring it completely. That's right, the plot would be better if it had not been there. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Animation:

The animation is actually rather good. The movement is quite fluid at times, the backgrounds are great, the character design is actually quite nice if a throwback to the 80s sans puffy hair. Of course, where this show should excel is the fight scenes, because it is a mecha show. But it doesn't, not really. But hey, boobies, amirite?

What this show does well is show off the female form in as many possible ways that would make it still acceptable for teens to watch. It does this rather well. Because if you take that away, then it is absolutely generic. Still, not bad, but not great. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Sound:

The soundtrack is perfectly servicable, if somewhat repetitive. The music isn't half bad. The voice acting is rather decent. The sound effects are a bit cheesy. There is nothing really unique or special about it. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Now, this is one of the strong points of the show. That is because most of everything else is a waste of time, but also because there are moments when it is done right. This is mediocre to above average. Don't expect innovation or originality, or anything that might make the battles seem intense or primal. That just means it isn't great in any way, not that it's terrible. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Characters:

Like most shows which can be described as harem shows, the characters are mostly excuses for fanservice rather than anything else. There is the weepy damsel in distress, the violent one, the three which have huge boobs as a replacement for character, one which is psychologically damaged, the greedy one, the clumsy one, and so on. You know, the relevant excuses to show that women of all forms can be just as unimportant to anything other than to be defined by chasing a man around. But hey, boobies, amirite?

That may sound a bit harsh. There are likable characters. About half of them didn't set off the "please kill them off" alarms that usually appear when watching a mediocre show. But in the end, none of them left an actual impression. In the end, every character except two or three is absolutely forgetablle. All of them have been done better in other shows. But hey, boobies, amirite?

Overall:

This show is a waste of time. It is not good, and there is nothing in it which is actually great. But if you are in it for a lot of fanservice and generic throwaway elements because you have spare time, then you could supposedly do worse. I can't recommend it though, as it is a proud waste of time... But hey, boobies, amirite?
